Medicines from Neoterica are good medicines that have been successfully used by animal owners, breeders and veterinarians for many years. The Inspector is no exception.

In the review, I examined: the mechanism of action of the anti-parasite remedy, the features of its use, and possible negative reactions. At the end you will find a list of analogues and answers to your questions.

About the manufacturer

The drug "Inspector Total S" was developed and manufactured by the German company Neoterica GmbH, founded in 2010. Today it is a research organization developing innovative products for pets. Neoterica GmbH has its own production, scientific laboratories and representative offices in 13 countries. Important advantages of the company are the presence of patents for all medicines and compliance with European quality standards.

The product range is represented by 13 brands, including antiparasitic drugs, vitamins, feed additives, medicines for dogs and cats, and care products. In total there are more than 180 types of various products.

Storage method

Drops should be stored in dark places out of reach of children. The medicinal properties of the Inspector last up to three years. Inspector drops are a low-toxic product of a new generation. The mixture of safety and effectiveness makes it so popular among owners of dogs and other animals.

The following drops have shown good results in the fight against fleas in pets:

  • Barrier;
  • Dana Ultra Neo;
  • Blokhnet;
  • Celandine;
  • Leopard.

What are the Inspector drops for?

The drug has a complex effect and is suitable for the complete treatment of dogs against the following parasites:

  • lice, fleas and lice;
  • ixodid, demodectic mites;
  • nematodes and their larvae;
  • microfilariae.

The inspector is recommended for both preventive treatment and active treatment against parasites. The product is completely safe for the body of warm-blooded animals and does not lead to complications or negative reactions. Before use, consultation with a specialist is required.

Insectoacaricidal collars for dogs

The Leopard collar for dogs, like the Green Fort collar for dogs, is sold in cardboard packages; the item itself is sealed in foil. Each package contains instructions for using the product. The anti-flea collar is designed for both large, medium and small dogs. If you have a small puppy, there are also versions of this flea and tick remedy for babies.

The Hartz collar is placed on the animal’s neck, so that there is a gap of about one and a half centimeters between the neck and the device. The remainder of the free end, the one that remains after attaching the collar, is cut off so that it does not interfere with the animal.

A repellent dog collar and its main effect are designed to prevent the animal from encountering problems such as fleas, lice, lice, ticks and other street parasites.

As for the validity period of the product, this term differs for different varieties.

Consequently, the celandine anti-tick collar is effective for three months, while the Biovax anti-flea collar is only sixty days.

In order to be on the safe side and not think about the problem of ticks, it is worth attaching the device to your pet’s neck after the first snow has melted. This is due to the fact that with the onset of warm weather, ticks become more active and begin to attack poor animals.

As for the aesthetic quality, if the pet has a long coat, this protective agent simply will not be noticeable in its hair. Therefore, there is no need to worry about this, since the celandine plus cervical collar has a fairly organic appearance.

Despite all the advantages and safety of these collars, you should still observe the following precautions while your pet is wearing it:

  • a dog wearing a parasite collar should not be allowed near small children;
  • the product should not be used together with other drugs used to treat pet fur against parasites;
  • some dog breeds must undergo strict veterinary control before a collar is placed on them;
  • Animals that are sick, pregnant or nursing small puppies are contraindicated from wearing these products;
  • after the expiration date of an item has expired, it is strictly prohibited to wear it;
  • Barsik and Greenfort collars should not be worn on a pet if a pregnant woman lives with it in the same room.

Some dogs, just like people, are prone to allergic reactions.

If you put a collar on your pet and it develops a rash, irritation or breathing problems, you should immediately remove it and seek advice from a veterinarian.

Release form

Drops against ticks and fleas are available in different dosages, which is convenient when choosing a drug depending on the age and weight of the pet. Release forms:

Inspector Mini

For dogs weighing 1-4 kg

The manufacturer also produces drops for giants (40-60 kg) in a 6 ml pipette. Before choosing a specific form of release of the product, you should weigh your pet correctly, and also carefully read the instructions on the package - the effectiveness of protection and the risk of side effects depend on this.

Answers to frequently asked questions

Is Inspector suitable for treating sarcoptic mange?

Yes, due to the active substance, subcutaneous mites are destroyed. Treat the dog twice with an interval of 1-1.5 weeks.

Which form of the drug should I choose: drops, collar or spray?

Any variety of Inspector will protect the dog from ectoparasites. Keep in mind that the spray is more convenient to use if you have several animals or need to additionally treat beds, furniture, and carpets. It is advisable to use a collar as an additional means of protection against insects.

How long should you not bathe your pet?

The ban is imposed for 4 days before and after treatment. Avoid swimming in ponds and in the bathroom (just water or soap). Make sure that the dog does not run through puddles or get caught in the rain.

Can pregnant dogs be treated with Inspector?

No negative effects on bitches or fetuses have been identified during pregnancy. However, like any drug, Inspector is used only if the potential harm from inaction outweighs the risk of side effects. For dogs that are whelping, veterinary supervision is required.

Is the Inspector dangerous to people?

The medicine is not dangerous for humans. However, when processing an animal, the following general rules are followed:

  • exclude smoking, eating and drinking;
  • after manipulation, wash your hands thoroughly with soap up to the elbows;
  • for 2-3 days, exclude contact between children and the pet;
  • if the solution accidentally gets on mucous membranes or skin, rinse them with running water;
  • if you are allergic to the active ingredients, entrust the antiparasitic treatment to another person;
  • If you develop allergic reactions or accidentally ingest the drug, contact the clinic, taking with you the instructions to the Inspector.

How the drug works

The active substances of the drops affect the nervous system of parasites. They block receptors and also disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses throughout the body, which leads to death due to paralysis 8 hours after application. In addition to its effect on existing internal or external parasites, Inspector Total provides protection for the dog for 14 days from the date of treatment. Two protective drop methods:

  1. Myoxidectin is absorbed into the animal’s circulatory system, so an attempt to bite leads to the death of the parasite.
  2. Fipronil remains only on the skin and fur; it has a local (contact) preventive effect.

Inspector Total is fatal only to arthropods; the active substances are completely safe for dogs. According to laboratory studies, the drug does not affect the immune system and fetal development in pregnant bitches and does not cause irritation, itching or redness of the skin.

Please note that the product is toxic to fish and bees. For effective protection, it is recommended to alternate the Inspector spray with other drugs to avoid the development of pest resistance to toxins.

Security measures

“Inspector” is only as safe as can be said about a product containing insecticides. Agronomists know that when treating plants with mixtures designed to destroy garden pests, it is extremely important to prevent contact with pesticides.

The second point concerns the use of expired medications. It is unacceptable. The room in which the treatment is carried out must be well ventilated. It is better if it is forced ventilation. The use of medical disposable gloves is mandatory, because they protect the skin from contact with the drug. To avoid poisoning, you must use a respirator. Eating and smoking while treating a cat with flea medication are prohibited.

At the end of the procedure, be sure to thoroughly wash your hands with soapy water. The treated animal must not be washed, wet, ironed, or touched with fur. This restriction applies for a period of up to 5-7 days. Any contact with the cat at this time is prohibited (applies to children and other animals).

When processing, drops should not get on the mucous membranes or skin of the person performing the procedure. If this happens, immediately rinse the contact area with clean water. It is not recommended to treat fleas more often than once a month. Store “Inspector” in a dark and cool place where there is no food, protected from children and pets.

Indications for use

The inspector is appointed to control and routinely prevent dogs from parasites. They effectively cope with the following diseases:

  • demodicosis;
  • sarcoptic mange (subcutaneous mites);
  • otodectosis (ear mites);
  • acarosis;
  • trichocephalosis;
  • dirofilariasis;
  • gastrointestinal helminths.

The drug helps cure up to 14 different parasitic diseases; before starting therapy, you should consult a specialist and undergo the necessary diagnostics. The advantage of the drops is that they cope with parasites at any stage of development, so after treatment the infected animal becomes safe for surrounding dogs and cats.

Instructions for use

Inspector Total is used by drip application to the skin. To process or treat, you need to carefully cut off the tip of the pipette and apply the entire volume of the medicine to the animal’s withers. Do not apply the drug to other parts of the body, as the dog may lick off the remaining drops. Recommendations for use:

  • the skin should be dry and intact, without visible mechanical injuries;
  • the procedure can be carried out no earlier than 48 hours after bathing or washing;
  • The drug can be applied to the withers, neck or base of the skull;
  • for large pets, Inspector can be applied to several areas for better absorption of the components of the composition (neck, area along the spinal column);
  • It is allowed to use only a hermetically sealed pipette; the use of expired or defective product is not allowed.

For dogs of long-haired breeds, the treatment procedure is best carried out with an assistant - one person with a comb lifts the hair, and the second at this moment applies drops. This allows you to speed up the absorption process of the substance.

Contraindications and side effects

Treatment with Inspector drops is not recommended in the following cases:

  • hypersensitivity or intolerance to the components of the composition;
  • less than 7 weeks old (except Inspector Mini);
  • treatment with other antiparasitic drugs;
  • recovery period after infectious diseases;
  • recovery after childbirth.

Before application, consultation with a specialist is recommended to avoid unpleasant complications. If the rules of use are followed, side effects are rare. You should immediately contact a veterinarian if the following symptoms appear after treatment:

  • increased salivation;
  • trembling of limbs, loss of consciousness;
  • vomit;
  • skin manifestations - itching, redness.

Before starting the procedure, it is important to determine the exact volume of drops depending on the dog’s weight. An overdose of fipronil can result in unpleasant consequences.

Using the product

Inspector Quadro K is prescribed to cats for the treatment and prevention of helminthic infestations of various etiologies, including infection with nematodes and tapeworms, as well as for the prevention of the development of dirofilariasis. In addition, the drug helps to cure insectosis caused by fleas, lice eaters and various types of mites that settle in the ear and external auditory canal, under the epidermis layer, inside the skin.

The dosage of the solution is calculated as follows:

  • if the cat weighs from 1-4 kg, use a pipette with a capacity of 0.4 ml;
  • for pets weighing 4-8 kg, a single dose of 0.8 ml is used;
  • Weighty pets weighing 8-15 kg receive the product from a 1.5 ml pipette.

If the cat weighs more than 15 kg, the medication consumption is calculated from the proportion of 0.1 ml per 1 kg of weight; a combination of pipettes of different capacities is selected for the procedure. For kittens or small cats weighing less than a kilogram, apply one drop of medicine per 500 g of weight.

The liquid product is applied to a dry area of skin without signs of damage.

To combat ixodid ticks, fleas, lice eaters, the product is applied to areas of the surface of the animal’s body, taking into account the prevention of licking - on the withers, between the shoulder blades. Infected cats are treated once. Repeated treatment to eliminate secondary infection is carried out once every 1-1.5 months during the period of maximum parasite activity.

To avoid re-infestation, the owner of a recovered cat must take additional measures: replace the pet’s bedding, treat upholstered furniture in places where the pet likes to rest. For treatment, insecticidal preparations purchased from a veterinary pharmacy should be used.

The protective effect of the product, which protects against infection by ixodid ticks, begins to appear after a period of time from 12 to 24 hours. Pre-treatment of a cat before a walk in the forest or park should be done in advance, taking this period into account.

Inspector helps get rid of ticks found on the surface of your pet's body. It is necessary to apply one drop of the substance to the parasite at the point of contact of the tick with the skin. After half an hour, the tick will fall off on its own. If this does not happen, the parasite can be removed with tweezers.

When treating otodectosis, the cat's ear must first be cleaned of crusts and traces of ear mites. Then you should drop 3 drops of the product inside each ear, fold the ear in half lengthwise and massage at the base for better distribution of the medicine. The medication must be applied to both ears, even if external signs of damage are observed only in one ear. The remaining solution should be distributed on the skin between the shoulder blades. This treatment is done twice or thrice. The interval between procedures is 7-10 days. If the course of the disease is complicated by inflammation, the cat is prescribed antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medications. A month after the initial treatment, the pet owner should contact a veterinarian for microbiological tests. If necessary, treatment should be repeated. If a cat is diagnosed with a damaged eardrum, the medication should not be dripped into the ear. In such a situation, the product is applied only between the cat’s shoulder blades at the base of the neck.

When infected with scabies mites, the solution is applied in the form of a thin layer to damaged parts of the surface of the animal’s body, previously cleared of scabs. When processing, you should capture intact skin in the border zone (up to 1 cm). The dosage is calculated based on the norm: “1 kg of weight = 0.1 ml of substance.” The procedure is repeated 2-4 times with a gap of 7-10 days between treatments. If the surface of the pet’s body has large fragments of the lesion, the cat is treated in two stages: on the first day, one half of the body, and the next day, the other. In case of serious lesions, complex therapy is required, including pathogenetic measures and medications to relieve symptoms of the disease. The cat’s complete recovery is confirmed based on microbiological tests.

To prevent the cat from licking the medicine, a protective collar or muzzle is attached to the fluffy cat. You can secure the jaws with a loop of wide tape, which is removed half an hour after treatment with the medicinal solution.

Anthelminthic therapy involves applying medication to the pet's skin. To treat infected cats, a single application of the product is sufficient; preventive treatment is carried out monthly.

Procedures to prevent heartworm disease are carried out in areas where cases of infection have been reported. Cats should be treated monthly from April to October, starting well before the mosquito season and ending a month after the end of the summer of blood-sucking flyers.

Since the drug is intended only to combat larvae, Inspector Quadro K does not help to completely get rid of damage by these helminths, but significantly reduces the concentration of parasites inside the blood. Thus, the product is used both to prevent infection and to combat helminths.

Inspector Quadro should not be applied to moist or affected areas of the skin. Water procedures for cats are prohibited for 4 days after treatment.

No unusual effects were observed after initial application or discontinuation of the drug.

When using the medication Inspector Quadro K, you must strictly adhere to the instructions indicated in the instructions for the drug. Otherwise, there is no guarantee that using the product will have a positive effect. If for any reason the frequency of processing has been disrupted, the procedures should be resumed according to the original scheme as soon as possible.

Pros and cons of the drug

Inspector drops for treating dogs are very popular in the Russian and European markets. Advantages of this drug:

  • complex effect;
  • possibility of treatment and prevention;
  • impact on external and internal parasites;
  • ease of use;
  • safety for dogs' health;
  • long-term protective effect.

In addition, there is a variety of release forms; the volume of the drug can be selected for a pet of almost any weight. The disadvantages include the high cost and the presence of fipronil in the composition, to which dogs are often intolerant and allergic. Also, treatment for worms requires taking a specialized drug.

The importance of choosing the right collar

In order to choose the right tick collar, you should initially understand that you are not only choosing a reliable product that will have a repellent effect, but also ensuring the health of your pet.

Therefore, when purchasing this product, you should be guided by the following basic rules of thoughtful and balanced choice:

  • Saving money is not the best selection criterion. If you buy a cheap, untested product, it may cause health problems for your pet.
  • The packaging of the collar must be sealed, otherwise the product may be spoiled.
  • The purchase should be made exclusively in a specialized store or veterinary pharmacy; you should not trust unverified online organizations in order to avoid counterfeiting.
  • When choosing a product, you should take into account the pet’s age, its weight and the presence or absence of pregnancy.
  • The item must be selected based on the size of the animal. This is due to the fact that very tight collars can cause allergic reactions, while very loose ones will not have the desired effect.
  • If your pet suffers from allergies, you should first study the composition of the collar and discuss it with your veterinarian.

Reviews from veterinarians

Ivan N.

“Inspector is a good prophylactic with fipronil in its composition. Suitable for both routine treatment against parasites and active treatment. It is important for owners to correctly calculate the dosage, because it depends on the weight of the pet.”

Nadezhda S.

“I often appoint an Inspector for seasonal antiparasitic treatment of dogs. The product is inexpensive and easy to use. Can be used for any breed."

Owner reviews

Julia K.

“In the summer we spend a lot of time in the forest, so we always treat our dog for ticks. We have been using Inspector drops for two seasons now. I’m satisfied with the cost and quality, I’ve never had a bite yet.”

Yuri T.

“Inspector drops for fleas and ticks were recommended by a veterinarian at a routine appointment. It’s convenient that the drug has a complex effect; you don’t need to wear an additional anti-parasite collar.”

conclusions

Inspector is a good antiparasitic agent. In addition, this is one of the cheapest combination drugs that gets rid of ectoparasites and nematodes in one fell swoop. Other means cost 2-3 times more (Lawyer, Frontline, etc.).

Feel free to use the medication if you have collie, sheltie, bobtail or related dogs: Inspector C is safe for these animals.

Some of my colleagues have noticed a decrease in efficiency lately. However, I have not observed this. And ticks found on a pet’s body after a walk through the thickets of parks and forests are a common occurrence. No product will protect you from these reptiles 100%. It’s just that instead of a couple of dozen insects, you will shoot 2-3 pieces.

If you are afraid that the combined remedy will not have the desired effect, use other antiparasitic drops (Bars, Insectal, Celandine, BlochNet) together with anthelmintic tablets (Drontal, Kanikvantel, Alben S, Pratel).

Analogs

There are many drugs available on the veterinary market for treating dogs against parasites. The most popular brands in the form of drops that can be used as an analogue of the Inspector:

Helminthal

Stronghold

Rolf 3D

Consultation with your veterinarian is recommended to determine the most appropriate antiparasitic drug for your dog.

Compound

Many breeders have long been using drops with insectoacaricidal and repellent effects. They are easy to use and are also capable of completely protecting the animal from the “encroachments” of parasites for a relatively long period of time. But each product has its own characteristics that must be taken into account when using the drug.

The composition of many products of this kind is relatively the same. In particular, in this case the main active ingredient is fipronil . This is a very effective and safe substance for warm-blooded animals.

In addition to it, the medicine also contains auxiliary components:

  • Moxidectin. This is another insecticide that enhances and complements the effect of the previous substance. It acts not only on ectoparasites, but also on some nematodes (roundworms).
  • Polyethylene glycol and butylated hydroxyl isole.
  • Diethylene glycol ether . This component is responsible for the volatility of the drug and its rapid distribution throughout the coat of the treated animal.

The appearance of the drop is a transparent liquid of a yellowish or golden-yellowish color, oily in appearance and to the touch. It has a rather specific, pungent and unpleasant odor.
