Preparing an apartment for treatment against bedbugs, how to poison bedbugs at the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station

Since you are here, most likely, you are faced with the need to find out how to poison house bugs in Moscow. Let's talk about this. Along the way, we will consider the characteristics of these creatures, their diet and other parameters. We will also highlight methods of destruction, manual and “industrial”. If you just need professional help and a 100% guarantee of extermination of blood-sucking animals, then call the SES.

Description of blood-sucking bugs

How do bedbugs differ from fleas and other pests? Fleas are jumping and few in number. For humans, they appear as painfully biting black dots that suddenly disappear from the body. Mosquitoes and mosquitoes are visible to our eyes and are generally familiar. We won't talk about them. Here we have an arthropod insect. In fact, there are many bedbugs in the world, more than 800 varieties. People only come across one - Cimex lectularius.

  • What do they like to eat? Exclusively blood. These are not cockroaches - you can’t lure them with a pie;
  • What time does it attack? During the day you are unlikely to see “long-awaited neighbors”, because they prefer the interval between 3 and 7 am;
  • How often does a bug drink blood? Bites appear daily, but 1 individual feeds once a week. Count the tracks and multiply by 7 - you get the approximate number of creatures in the housing at the moment;
  • At what speed does a bedbug reproduce? 5 eggs are laid per day. Considering that the “favorites” of sanitary and epidemiological station workers can live up to 14 months, it turns out that in 365 days one individual produces up to 2,000 new creatures, and 10 already gives birth to 20 thousand.

As you can see, disinfestation is extremely necessary in the early stages, as the situation is worsening at a catastrophic speed. Fortunately, it doesn’t matter how infested the house is - if you poison bedbugs with gas, the result will still be 100%, but the means at hand may no longer help. The methods will be described below. Now let's move on to another category of creatures.

Know: bedbugs are so small and agile that the human skin does not feel their movement at all.

Signs of bedbugs

Bite sites: fleas attack mainly the legs, less often the arms, but not the body or face. But the insects under discussion are not so picky. Often people do not pay attention to the problem in time, which is why the neck, cheeks and other always exposed areas turn into a swollen mess. And only then do many turn to the SES to poison bedbugs in Moscow. We will not tire of repeating that this is the wrong approach and the problem must be solved by striking immediately. You should not be afraid to call a specialized service - it is easier than going shopping in search of dubious products. The specifics of hiring professionals are written at the very bottom of the page.

Type of bites: bedbugs leave characteristic marks, only at first glance reminiscent of flea marks. Take a look at their features:

  • Close proximity to each other - sometimes it looks like a solid burn;
  • Protruding swellings are characteristic of most insect bites;
  • Noticeable itching - it is not as severe as from fleas, but you still cannot avoid it.

You may also find traces of larvae, as the creatures lay them all over the place.

Know: in advanced cases, people found up to 500 marks on their body when they woke up in the morning.

What are the ways to kill bedbugs?

Meanwhile, traditional or home methods continue to compete with chemical methods of control.

Folk methods of control are the destruction of bedbugs using improvised means, let's look at some of them:

  1. Evaporation of surfaces (only suitable for treating textile surfaces).
  2. Lubricating bedbug-infested surfaces with a concentrated solution of acetic acid (requires repeated work at intervals of 1 to 2 days).
  3. Lubricating the habitats of bedbugs with valerian tincture (requires repeated use, as it does not affect insect eggs).

These are just a few folk remedies for bedbugs; in general, we can say about them that they require a lot of patience and perseverance from the victim, since it is not known how quickly this or that method will work, and whether it will work in your case.

Unlike folk remedies, chemical control methods are usually a reliable result. But even here you need to be careful, since traditional chemicals (karbofos, etc.) are not suitable for killing the new generation of bedbugs; they note the high resistance of modern insects to many chemicals, which have been considered a reliable solution to the problem of bedbugs for almost a century.

Based on the method of applying chemicals, we can distinguish:

  • Aerosol treatment;
  • Application of wet chemicals;
  • Gasification of the room (using a cold and hot fog generator).

How does SES destroy?

Fog technology is used by professionals all over the world. The latter is implemented using generators. The equipment allows you to eject liquid into extremely small particles, which guarantees that even a minor scratch on the back of your TV case will be filled. Look at the features:

  • Impact on finishing - cold fog is used in apartments. It does not damage the decor. At construction sites and in industrial premises, the “hot” method is used. It is more expensive and effective, but the humidity increases. It is important to contact experienced workers so that they select the optimal settings;
  • Impact on equipment - there can be no short circuits, so there is no need to worry;
  • Health effects - our products are safe for humans, cats, dogs, potted flowers, etc.

Your result: adults and larvae die. The layer of substances remains for 2 months as an additional measure, without interfering with cleaning the floors. Even if your neighbors’ apartment is infested, the individuals will not come to you, since the sprayed products contain repellents.

What means does the SES use against bedbugs?

Depending on the situation and some opportunistic factors, SES specialists poison bedbugs with various insecticidal agents. The final decision on the use of a particular drug is made after a specialist visits the premises and assesses the degree of contamination.

In addition, the type of room itself also plays a certain role in choosing a remedy for bedbugs. For example, sanitation of cabins during the non-living season can be carried out with powerful, strong-smelling preparations, which are usually more affordable in price than equally effective products without a strong odor. If the client wants to save money, he can order sanitation with odorous preparations in a private house or apartment.

Most often, treatment for bedbugs by specialists of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station is carried out using the following means:

  • Biorin is an aqueous emulsion of the insecticide deltamethrin and several of its synergists. Has an unpleasant smell. It is sprayed using special aerosol generators (so-called fog generators).
  • Sinusan is an emulsion concentrate based on chlorpyrifos, very effective against bedbugs and other domestic insects. Its analogue is insect repellent Minap 22.
  • Tetrix is a powerful Dutch remedy with a very pungent, nasty odor. Perhaps this is one of the most effective and popular drugs in the SES for sanitation against bedbugs and cockroaches.
  • Chlorpirimak is an improved version of Tetrix. Contains a set of fragrances to mask the odor, and therefore is more convenient for use in residential areas.
  • Effective Ultra is a fairly modern product that contains tetramethrin, propoxur, MGK-264 and piperonyl butoxide. Such a complex composition of the poison guarantees that parasites will not develop resistance to this drug.
  • Extermin is a microencapsulated drug based on chlorpyrifos, which has a prolonged effect.

Different departments and stations of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service use different drugs. Therefore, if it is important for the customer to know what is used to poison bedbugs at a particular SES, then they should ask this question on the first call to the station.

This is interesting

Sanitary and epidemiological stations carry out the destruction of bedbugs only with those means that, in accordance with GOSTs, belong to the 3rd and 4th classes of danger to humans (low-hazardous, at least in ready-to-use form). Most of them do not cause irritation when they come into contact with human skin, and only with repeated exposure do they sometimes lead to irritation or an allergic reaction. However, if they enter the respiratory tract or digestive tract, the drugs may well cause severe poisoning.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Station itself does not officially sell drugs for killing bedbugs, and therefore you should not call the service and find out prices. But there are always and everywhere various workarounds: as the experience of many independent bedbug fighters shows, it is quite possible to buy funds by coming to the local SES and talking with the people working there.

How to reprocess

If the first procedure for exterminating bedbugs does not produce results, the question of repeated treatment becomes logical. The best solution would be to contact professionals who will re-inspect the premises to identify areas of insect infestation. An experienced specialist will be able to correctly draw up a set of measures necessary to completely remove bedbugs from the apartment, help with advice and choose a quality product. You may need another disinfectant, since pests develop immunity to old ones.

Remember that exterminating bedbugs is a painstaking procedure that requires a professional approach and patience. Bedbugs don’t go away on their own; you can’t just tolerate them. Do not hesitate to contact specialists; as a rule, one or two treatments will allow you to completely get rid of the annoying problem in a month.

What do SES poison bedbugs with?

The services of exterminators are the most effective solution in the fight against insects. That is why it is always interesting what the SES poisons bedbugs with: what if such a product is easy to find in a nearby store?

The pest control center staff uses toxins such as Biorin, Extermin or Sinuzan. If it is fundamentally important for a client how much it costs to poison bedbugs, they can offer him budget options: products with a strong odor, for example, Tetrix. But more important than the drug itself is the dosage in which it is diluted by sanitary service specialists. For each specific case, the decision on the choice and concentration of the product is made by exterminators, since only they know exactly the safe and effective way to kill parasites.

About the price. Do not think that it is expensive to poison bedbugs with the help of professionals - the price is quite affordable, especially considering that you are forever getting rid of blood-sucking parasites that can cause serious damage to your health.

Why aren't bedbugs killed?

For example, cockroaches do not die due to their ability to quickly adapt. They are almost impossible to exterminate with store-bought products. When working with bedbugs, there is also the problem of substances that are outdated and no longer effective, but the main problem lies in the locality of the treatment. Our goal is to saturate the furniture, its internal areas, places behind switches and walls, and small cracks. It is impossible to do this manually. But there is also ventilation.

The result of independent extermination is that a hidden zone always remains, some insects survive and everything starts again. Therefore, figuring out how to poison bedbugs at home is pointless.

How to call the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station?

And finally, about the most difficult thing. Calling the SES to remove bedbugs is quite a difficult task. Although the responsibilities of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station include extermination measures against bedbugs, the service itself and its specialists are constantly very busy with work, and when private individuals apply for sanitation, they are usually redirected to other disinfestation services (private firms).

However, it is still possible to get the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station to visit a residential building or apartment.

It is also useful to read: Disinfection of an apartment from bedbugs

And one more thing: bedbugs are hiding in all the cracks, and you just can’t find their nest? And smoke bombs find bedbugs where even a needle cannot squeeze through...

First you need to talk to your neighbors and find out if anyone has a similar problem. As a rule, if more than two apartments in an apartment building are infested with bedbugs, then the SES will definitely come to check the situation. Therefore, when calling the station, you should definitely report that several apartments are infested at once, and also add that one of the residents has a severe allergy to bedbug bites (if this is true).

It would be even more effective to contact the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station with a complaint about unclean neighbors or businesses near residential buildings that are a source of bedbugs and do not take measures to exterminate them. The fight against such spreaders of parasites is one of the main tasks of the SES, and service specialists respond to such calls very quickly.

Let us note once again that we are talking about SES, which is a state organization, and not about small companies with similar names.

How and where is it better to order disinfection of bedbugs?

It is better to choose a pest control company based not on pricing policy, but on reviews from real customers. In general, private companies usually work better than SES.

They have to do this in order to earn a good reputation for themselves and thus cope with the competition in this service market.

Adviсe:

  • Find out the details of the procedure. If the manager does not inform you about the specifics of preparing for disinfestation, this indicates an insufficiently responsible attitude.
  • Use personal recommendations from friends.

Important! Professionals use drugs such as Sinuzan, Minal, Tetrix, Extermin, Biorin, Chlorpirimark.

Procedure for removing parasites

In the vast majority of cases, SES workers remove bedbugs in one sanitary treatment. But even before this procedure is carried out, a specialist goes to the site - a city apartment, a residential building, a cottage community - to clarify the situation on the spot.

Often, during such an inspection, the residents of the premises learn a lot of new things not only about the number of bedbugs in their apartment, but also about the situation with them among their neighbors. In addition, the visiting inspector of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station always has extensive experience in exterminating not only bedbugs, but also other insects, and knows very well where to look for them, in which places the main populations are kept, and how to find bedbugs in places where it is difficult to even look.

On a note

In many cases, after inspecting the premises, the SES specialist orders that neighboring apartments be examined and treated. This is especially true for apartment buildings: here, the first to raise the alarm may be the residents of apartments that are not the most infested, while, perhaps, their neighbors live next door to a real bedbug infestation.

Check your neighbors

If you have poisoned bedbugs, but the insects have not disappeared, it makes sense to contact your neighbors. It is quite possible that pest outbreaks are located in their area. In search of a new home, bedbugs can migrate from neighbors to you through ventilation, cracks in the floor and baseboards. In this case, treating one apartment will not solve the problem; after some time, the insects will return and annoy you with bites. It makes sense to cooperate with your neighbors and carry out professional extermination of bedbugs in several houses at once. For prevention, you can also close the ventilation with a fine mesh and seal the cracks in the baseboards. From now on, this will protect you from neighboring insects, be it bedbugs, cockroaches, flies or others.

Preparing the apartment for processing

Preparation

Before the arrival of specialists and the start of sanitary treatment of the room from bedbugs, it is necessary to prepare the place:

  1. Place all food, clothing, dishes and personal items in tightly closed boxes or bags to prevent poison from getting on them;
  2. Move the furniture to the center of the room and cover it with a thick cloth, which can then be thrown away;
  3. Clear passages for specialists to walls, corners, and places where pests accumulate;
  4. Remove all plants from the premises, remove pets and leave the whole family for a few hours.

Important! Since bed bugs die within 2-4 weeks after pest control, they may continue to bite for a while.

Processing efficiency

For some time after disinfestation, bedbugs may continue to bite.
The service uses extremely powerful poisons to combat parasites - after the procedure, a small percentage of insects survive. If the bedbugs return, the service will come for extermination a second time, but with a different poison.

It is important to remember that in the first few days it may seem that the treatment did not work or that there are more insects. In fact, this is not so: bedbugs that are immediately exposed to a lethal dose die in the first half hour, while the rest die within a few days. Poisoning eggs and newly hatched bedbugs takes about a month. In other words, you can evaluate the result of the work only after a month.

Dying insects may crawl out, making it appear that there are more of them.

Important! Treatment of an apartment from bedbugs and other insects by specialists from the sanitary and epidemiological station is carried out in several steps. First, the employees evaluate the future work and explain the subtleties to the owners. Afterwards, the owners prepare the room and leave so as not to suffer from the poison. Thanks to the use of special techniques and highly effective poisons, almost all parasites die at once.

Basic steps after disinfestation

All exterminators of our service leave instructions to clients about what needs to be done after treating an apartment for bedbugs, how to clean the place and what needs to be done with things, furniture and food.

In general, after disinfestation in the apartment you need:

  • Keep it completely closed for a strictly defined period, the duration of which depends on the processing method;
  • Ventilate the apartment for at least an hour with a through air flow;
  • Wipe with a soap-soda solution those surfaces that people and pets come into contact with most often;
  • Rinse or wash clothes, wash dishes that have been left uncovered.

It is not recommended to carry out general wet cleaning immediately after treatment. In most cases, the optimal period for carrying it out is 5-6 days after disinfestation, when you can be absolutely sure that there are no bedbugs left in the room.

There is no need to wash the apartment immediately after treating and ventilating it, since in this case the effectiveness of the product will decrease and some of the bedbugs may survive.

After disinfection, conditioning the room for several hours and thorough ventilation, you can return to the apartment, you can sleep, eat, and conduct normal activities in it. You can also return children and all pets to it. The infusion and ventilation itself should be carried out taking into account some specifics. Let's take things in order here.

It is not advisable to clean the apartment for 5-6 days after treatment - this may reduce the effectiveness of treatment

Reasons for the appearance of insects at home

You cannot insure yourself against bloodsuckers. For these insects, it doesn’t matter how often you clean and take out the trash, because they feed on human blood.

Options for the appearance of bedbugs:

  • Through windows, doors, ventilation systems and through sockets. If your neighbors are poisoning parasites, the surviving insects will come running to you.
  • A person can carry bedbugs on clothes or in a bag. They can often be found in hotels, hostels, trains or at a party.
  • When buying things second-hand, especially when you purchase furniture or appliances.

If a person does not live in an apartment, then the bedbugs hibernate - pseudoanabiosis, but when a person appears, they become active and make themselves felt.

Methods of destroying parasites

It is recommended to carry out sanitation at the same time as your neighbors. If they didn’t kill the bloodsuckers, they can easily get back into your apartment. An agreement for disposal, disinfestation, and deratization can be drawn up with the management company.

To get rid of bedbugs, you can use insecticides: “Raptor”, “Dichlorvos”. You can carry out disinfection yourself. When processing, there should be no small children or pets in the room, since the active substances contained in pest repellents are toxic. When working with toxic substances, you must be careful.

You can also use folk remedies: herbs, changing the temperature, constant lighting of the room. Such methods, however, are less effective. The death of insects does not occur, they only crawl away to other places. If not all the bugs are gone, the population will quickly recover. It will not be possible to get rid of infection using these methods even in cases where parasite eggs remain.

To remove bloodsuckers from the premises, it is better to call the SES. Specialists from the sanitary and epidemiological station use special means that destroy insects. You can also use their services for deratization, destruction of fleas, flies, wood lice, cockroaches, ants, eliminating odors in the refrigerator, and disinfection.

Cold fog

It is necessary to call a service that uses professional equipment to kill bedbugs using a similar method. Masters use aerosol cold fog generators. The device breaks liquid droplets into microscopic ones, and then blows them out of the nozzle with an air stream. They remain in the air of the treated room for 1 to 2.5 hours and penetrate into any holes or cracks, spreading chemicals. Under the influence of the insecticide used, the bedbugs die.

One of the extremely effective ways to combat bedbugs is cold fog.

The advantages of the method are high efficiency and versatility of application. This method of fighting allows you to quickly process even a large space. The poison penetrates into the smallest crevices, so the pest population will completely die out.

The disadvantages are the high price and high toxicity of steam for humans. Only people wearing a special protective suit can be in the room during processing. If it is not possible to put on protection, the person will have to leave during the disinfestation.

Hot fog

Hot fog easily destroys bedbug eggs.

Another effective method of treating a city apartment from insects is the use of hot fog. You will need to call employees of a specialized company or firm that has the necessary equipment. Drops of water containing the chemical come out of the apparatus heated to 60°. The poison scattered throughout the room will act for 10-12 hours. At this time, no one lives in the room.

The advantages are high efficiency with low insecticide consumption, complete disappearance of parasites, and time saving. The liquid penetrates even the smallest holes and destroys adults, larvae, and eggs. Bedbugs disappear after this treatment, even with severe infestation. The disadvantages are the high cost and the possibility of an explosion due to any spark.

Destroy bedbugs yourself or with the help of professionals?

Despite the availability of instructions on the use of chemicals, not all owners succeed in eliminating bed bugs. The first, second, and subsequent attempts fail. Insects continue their night hunts and appear in new corners of the apartment. Failures are explained by the fact that people do not know how to properly bait themselves, miss important nuances of the procedure, and use products that only repel, but do not kill, insects. This leads to the fact that after some time after treatment, bedbugs can start again. Exterminators guarantee complete extermination from the first treatment.

Many people prefer to destroy bedbugs in their home themselves due to the minimal cost of pest control. Careful calculation changes the traditional view. Here's what to consider:

  • Bed bugs' ability to survive is enviable. The missed female gives rise to a new colony, which multiplies at an impressive rate. You will have to repeatedly repeat disinfestation using chemicals, essential oils and other folk remedies, spend time on preparation, post-processing, storing things, removing people;
  • bed parasites are able to develop immunity to toxic agents. If you fail to destroy it the first time, you will have to look for a new toxic drug and bear the costs;
  • in attempts to deal with bloodsuckers, you waste priceless things: your health, peace, rest.

The total costs of carrying out self-disinfestation can be compared with the labor costs of specialized companies. In many cases, the second option is more profitable.

Exterminating bedbugs in an apartment yourself

Currently, there are many ways to get rid of bedbugs. And for this it is not necessary to call a specialist, but you can try to overcome the problem on your own. The destruction of odorless bedbugs is achieved with special means.

The market offers a huge range of household insecticides that make it possible to disinfect your visit yourself. In this case, you do not have to spend a lot of money. Efficiency has been proven - bedbugs disappear from the premises! You can remove insects yourself.

Insecticidal sprays against bedbugs

Aerosol is a convenient packaging of the product that allows you to apply the drug to any surface in just a few movements. Fighting bedbugs in this format will give the most effective results. It is recommended to use aerosols locally, that is, spray the product directly over bedbug nests and places where they accumulate. Once applied, the drug has a short duration of action, so it is important to hit the target accurately. Self-disinfestation of apartments in this way is carried out quite quickly.

But the aerosol also has a drawback : after spraying, the poison remains in the air of your room and can easily enter the respiratory tract of a person or your pet. After treating the room, you need to open the windows and leave the room with the animals for at least 1 hour. The destruction of bedbugs and cockroaches can be carried out in one treatment of the room.

Using insecticidal chalks and powders to control bedbugs

Have you decided to try poisoning bedbugs yourself? Then you will probably go to the market or store to buy poison and, of course, you will be given recommendations. Most old-school sellers recommend taking products that are produced in the form of chalk or powder. They find them very effective.

However, as practice shows, such means will not always help in the fight against bedbugs. This is due to the fact that bedbugs will not eat the powder, since they feed exclusively on blood. This means that this method will not be effective. But powders that need to be diluted in water and sprayed in places where bedbugs accumulate do not lose their effectiveness; they are still relevant.

Destruction of bedbugs with high and low temperatures

House bugs have their own temperature regime, so there is the simplest method of control. If you live in the northern regions and experience severe frosts in winter, then simply take the sofa outside and leave it there for several hours. In such a situation, the bedbugs will die.

You can also fight bedbugs using high temperatures. To do this, you need to find a nest and simply pour boiling water over it. However, this method will not give 100% results and will only reduce the number of insects. It is better to thoroughly treat all furniture with a steamer or steam cleaner, maintaining the maximum temperature.

Traditional methods and means for killing bedbugs

Bedbugs have been around for a very long time and people are constantly coming up with new methods to combat them. Naturally, there are folk remedies that can destroy parasites, but most of these remedies only scare them away for a while, and then the situation repeats itself. Folk remedies include: vinegar, wormwood, tansy, ammonia.

There are also mixtures that can kill bedbugs. However, it will only work if it hits the insect directly. They only make sense if you know the nesting site. The folk method usually eliminates the consequences, not the cause of the situation.

Recipes:

  • Mix vinegar, naphthalene and alcohol in equal parts;
  • Pure denatured alcohol;
  • Aviation kerosene.

The best chemicals for removing bedbugs yourself

Self-control of bedbugs will be effective with a small number of insects. At the same time, remember that toxic substances are dangerous to your health and you can only work with them by following all safety regulations. While working, be sure to wear gloves, a mask and goggles.

One of the most effective and safest remedies for home use is Xulat Micro. One bottle of the drug is enough to treat the entire apartment.

The fight against bedbugs with folk and chemical means is quite possible, but whether it will give a real result depends on many factors. Often the problem with bedbugs occurs in the entire house, and not in a separate apartment, therefore it is better to fight them together and at the same time. Otherwise, there will be a high probability that the problem will return again.

Folk recipes

For those who do not want to live in an apartment treated with chemicals, traditional methods of fighting bedbugs are available. Their effect is based on the bugs' fear of strong odors. More than 20 plant species have repellent properties. Only powder prepared from dried Dalmatian chamomile flowers kills insects. It began to be used back in Ancient Greece. Under the name “Persian Powder,” the natural insecticide came with trade caravans to Europe and was actively used until the middle of the 20th century.

The safest folk remedies for bedbugs are decoctions of repellent plants, which are used in the treatment of premises, clothing, and furniture. Using table vinegar will not only help get rid of parasites, but also cure a bug bite. Sachets with dry lavender, citrus peels, wormwood, mint, and tansy not only drive parasites out of their nests, but also deodorize the room. The same effect is observed when using essential oils for bedbugs.

Essential oils, mint, eucalyptus

Interesting!

At the court of the French monarch Louis XIV de Bourbon, there were court perfumers who created perfumes based on essential oils that repelled bedbugs, fleas, and lice. In 1829, the book “True, Convenient and Cheap Remedies Used in France for the Extermination of Bedbugs” gave a detailed description of these perfumes and recommendations for their use. A brief description of the effectiveness of using aromas in the fight against “bloodsuckers” was also given there.

Such an abundance of methods for exterminating synanthropic insects indoors allows everyone to independently choose how to treat furniture against bedbugs or the walls and floors of an apartment. But each of the listed methods requires compliance with the rules for processing the premises.

Features of the life cycle of bedbugs

To effectively fight the enemy, you need to know his habits and characteristics well. The average lifespan of a bed bug is 1 year. These are quite tenacious insects; with persistent cold weather and lack of food, they fall into a state of torpor, in which they can remain for more than one month.

But as soon as conditions become more favorable, they will immediately wake up and very quickly restore their vital functions to their original level. Another very bad feature of them is their ability to migrate; they easily migrate to places that are new to them.

Given favorable conditions, bedbugs reproduce continuously. In just one day of life, the female lays up to 12 eggs. Their ripening period lasts about 2 months. Places with limited accessibility are selected for laying. For example, furniture joints, cracks, space under baseboards. The eggs themselves are very resistant to an aggressive external environment, so when treated with insecticides they do not penetrate their shell and do not cause them any harm.

Tips for 100% destruction of bedbugs.

1. Order in the apartment.

An important point is to properly prepare the apartment before processing. Carry out routine cleaning of the apartment, vacuum and wet-clean the floors, remove all items from open access into closets or plastic bags. Sleeping places, sofas, beds, armchairs and bedside tables need to be moved 50-70 cm away from the walls. Provide our specialist with access to water.

2. Ventilation of the room.

Windows and vents may be open during the event, and immediately closed after treatment; people and pets should not be in the room due to safety precautions based on sanitary standards and regulations. Apartments must be kept for 1.5 to 2 hours with closed windows and doors in the absence of people and pets; this is necessary for better retention of the irrigated product.

3. Cleaning the apartment.

Before cleaning the apartment, the room must be ventilated for 60-90 minutes. It is necessary to carry out wet cleaning of contact areas, tables, countertops, door handles, etc. Wipe the floors with a damp cloth without touching the baseboards. Surfaces are washed with a solution of soda and soap.

4. Washing things.

It is better to wash everything that is possible at a temperature of at least 60 degrees and iron with steam. Items that cannot be washed should be taken to the dry cleaner. If you do not have the opportunity to treat things for bedbugs, they must be treated with a steam generator.

5. Vacuum cleaner.

It is better to vacuum all sleeping places and the entire apartment as often as possible; we recommend vacuuming for the first time only 3-4 days after extermination. It is very good to completely vacuum sofas with a special narrow nozzle in hard-to-reach places to eliminate larvae, eggs, and insects. The dust bag is disposed of in a sealed bag.

6. Sleeping place.

Beds should be placed at a distance of 20 cm from the wall for a month after treatment. It is better to use special covers for mattresses.

7. Visual inspection.

Browse all books and book bindings, cardboard and wood products. Bedbugs can also be found in wood, books, paper envelopes, etc. Carefully check all bags and suitcases for travel, electronics and household appliances. The presence of bedbugs in things can only be detected with a very careful and thorough inspection. Also carefully check the upholstered furniture for all seams and folds. Bedbugs can be found on carpets.

8. General cleaning of the apartment.

We recommend carrying out general cleaning no earlier than 4 weeks after the extermination measures, for maximum effect.

Harm from bedbugs to humans

Not every person knows how much discomfort and irritation these bloodsuckers can cause in life. So far, no cases of viral or bacterial infection have been identified.

It is important to know that in nature the population of these insects is a carrier of a large number of infectious diseases. Studies of these insects have identified dozens of pathogens. But to date, there have been no cases of people contracting infectious diseases from bed bug bites.

But this does not mean that bed bugs are pleasant neighbors and do not need to be eliminated.

Here are just some of the troubles you may encounter:

  • Allergic reactions.
  • Itching and hyperemia of the skin at the bite sites.
  • Scratching and infection and inflammation.
  • Anemia with numerous bites.
  • Sleep disturbance.
  • Feelings of fear and nervousness.

IMPORTANT : At the first symptoms of an allergy, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Quartzization

This method will not poison the bedbugs, but will disinfect the room from any infection they may carry. Turn on a lamp daily for 20 minutes in every room of your home. Be sure to use quartz after killing bedbugs to kill any viruses that the insects may have left behind. In general, such a disinfectant would be useful in every home, especially if you have pets.

In what cases is repetition necessary?

Sometimes people continue to see bedbugs even though they have long since died

If bedbugs appear again after disinfestation, repeated chemical treatment will be required. It is necessary in the following cases:

  • The bugs continue to bite, they were not killed the first time;
  • The habitat changed, but the insects did not go far: for example, they moved from the bedroom to the nursery;
  • Not all insects died the first time. This may be due to failure to follow the recommendations of the exterminators, poor preparation before the procedure (for example, the specialist was unable to get to the corner where the surviving individuals had accumulated), too much contamination of the room, quickly cleaned the home (the poison did not have time to take effect);
  • The apartment was re-infected - new individuals entered the apartment;
  • Often there is a psychological factor: the bedbugs have disappeared, but residents think that they remain and continue to bite. This creates the illusion that the pests have not been completely destroyed.

Bedbugs are extremely tenacious parasites that easily adapt to the action of chemical poison. If after disinfestation there are still live bugs, you will have to call sanitation specialists again. At the same time, they must treat the room with another poison, to which the insects do not yet have immunity.

Professional pest control: pros and cons

Naturally, any service, even a government service, costs a certain amount of money. But only those who have either lived with bedbugs for a short time or have not yet begun to fight them pay attention to this factor. Because no matter how much a service from an SES or a private company costs, healthy sleep and the absence of constant allergic reactions on the body are much more expensive. Prices in Moscow and St. Petersburg are the highest: disinsection of a one-room apartment will cost from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles, and each new room will cost another 300-500 rubles.

The cheapest prices are for public places: from 1600 to 2000 rubles. If disinfestation is needed by offices or private companies, then on average it will cost from 20 to 30 rubles per square meter. The larger the area, the lower the prices. Removing bedbugs yourself is no cheaper: you need from 20 to 30 bottles of insecticides per apartment, and this often exceeds the cost of professional pest control. It, in turn, has the following advantages:

  • safety for apartment residents, including pets;
  • efficiency;
  • long lasting result;
  • guarantee;
  • use of professional insecticides;
  • treatment against insects even in hard-to-reach places where bedbugs live.

In addition, this procedure is not for the squeamish: crowds of bedbugs will try to escape during disinfestation. The main advantage of professional services is that they use tools that cannot be used independently or found on sale. These may be modern developments, such as dry heat, or chemicals that remain effective long after disinfestation. Over-the-counter insecticides are often less effective and do not last as long.

Professional processing

However, ses may be ineffective in some cases and has its drawbacks. Among them is the migration of bedbugs. They can go together to their neighbors or return back from them after a while. Although in these cases, many companies re-treat premises against bedbugs for free, because their insecticides serve as good prevention against insects.

How do professionals work?

In terms of the number of services offered by private SES, Moscow, where bedbugs are no less active than London, where 8 out of 10 houses are regularly treated annually, is today not inferior to European capitals. But the principles of work carried out by representatives of different companies in any case remain similar. The work of professionals always begins with an inspection of the property. It is on this basis that the degree of infection is determined and conclusions are drawn about which drugs should be used in a particular case.

Upon completion of the inspection, the specialist may make disappointing conclusions about the sanitary condition of the entire building or the apartments adjacent to the facility intended for processing. In this case, it would be advisable to discuss with your neighbors the possibility of calling in a whole sanitary force to get rid of the annoying insects once and for all.

Upon completion of the necessary training, a pest control service specialist will arrive at the site with equipment to ensure that the planned procedures are carried out in full. During this time, people and animals will have to be removed from the home, windows will have to be tightly closed, food and personal hygiene items will have to be taken outside the home.

Why are control measures needed?

Upon completion of the processing procedure, communication with representatives of sanitary services does not end. The disinfestation specialist will explain exactly what precautions and in what time frame will need to be taken to achieve one hundred percent destruction of insects. If necessary, barrier protection measures will also be applied to avoid re-infection for a certain period of time - six months, a year, several years.

It is important to note that the measures taken are considered effective only if the presence of bedbugs is not observed for two or more months after treatment of the premises. Do not be surprised if, after this period, the pest control service specialists wish to pay you a second visit. This is done solely in the interests of clients and, if there is a guarantee for the work, repeated expulsion of insects if they appear will not cost you a penny. However, usually just one visit from specialists is quite enough, after which the blood-sucking pests prefer to bypass the inhospitable home.
