Maggots crawled out of the cracks, and the smell made my head spin: the corpse had been rotting for almost a month in the dormitory

How to notice and how to remove maggots from a dog

Maggots are fairly easy to spot with the naked eye.

.
These very unpleasant-looking insects swarm in the dog’s fur, causing him discomfort. These parasites are famous for devouring the flesh of their victims alive
.
Maggots are very fond of purulent, untreated wounds. There they eagerly eat the rotting flesh of the dog, which causes severe pain to the animal
.
Also, symptoms of maggots in a dog are apathy, lethargy, possibly lack of appetite, and fever due to intoxication of the body. In the wound you will notice elongated creatures of a light shade, which will stand out against the pet’s dark fur coat. And if this infection has started in your apartment, then you should devote more time to cleaning. We'll look at how to remove maggots from a dog below.

Where can you spot maggots, how to remove maggots from a dog

Maggots on a dog multiply at warp speed

, since it is in dog hair and feces that they have all the conditions for comfortable living:

  • warm;
  • a constant source of food;
  • the ability to move around on a dog without expending your own strength;
  • an excellent place to lay larvae.

As we can conclude, feces , anus , open purulent wounds are a favorite place for maggots . They very actively absorb dead skin and meat that has begun to decompose.

An emergency worthy of a horror film occurred in August 2014. An elderly woman woke up in her apartment to a large white worm falling from the ceiling onto her bed. The owner's cat immediately jumped onto the bed. The sight of the alien frightened him so much that he began to avoid this room.

Having looked around, the pensioner discovered that the cover had fallen out of the electrical distribution box on the wall and large white maggots fell from there in large quantities, which immediately began to spread throughout the apartment. Worms crawled out of all the cracks by the thousands.

Mother and daughter called the police. When opening the apartment on the floor above, it turned out that the corpse of the owner, which had begun to decompose, had been there for at least a week and a half. Cadaveric worms, crawling throughout the apartment of the deceased, entered the interfloor ceilings and electrical communications through the floor and cracks in the baseboards. That's how they ended up in the apartment below.

The pensioner and her daughter had to endure the attack of crawling creatures for at least several days, since the SES, where they asked to carry out sanitary treatment and disinfection, refused to leave, citing a day off (August 23 was a Saturday) and the absence of a municipal order.

The city administration duty officer did not take any measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency, despite the fact that the apartment in the building on Baltiyskaya Street is municipal. Meanwhile, time passed, and the worms constantly falling out of the ceiling, crawling around the apartment, went deep into the floor.

Two days later, a certain girl appeared on the threshold of the ill-fated apartment of the deceased with a can of some chemical, alone, without even special clothing. She walked around the apartment, took a puff from the can and, apparently considering the disinfection task completed, retreated safely. Obviously, such “disinfection” did not give the desired effect - the worms did not stop falling into the apartment of the pensioner and her daughter.

Meanwhile, the plaintiffs continued to seek help where they were required to provide it. However, neither the management nor the customer service helped them.

“Progress” began only three days after the emergency. In the ill-fated apartment, the electricians finally turned off the lights and pulled out the wires from the communications. Things and baseboards in the apartment were also sprayed. However, the infection “from the other world” turned out to be so tenacious that even after repeated treatment the worms continued to fall out. More than six months have passed since the emergency. But even now everything has not calmed down. Large black flies fly in the plaintiffs’ apartment and throughout the entrance, appearing from the ventilation and electrical wiring ducts.

The consequences of the invasion are still felt today. On March 26, in court, the injured mother and daughter could not hide their emotions:

“In our apartment we felt like we were in a coffin!”

The court found that the woman who lived in the apartment on the floor above abused alcohol, did not work, regularly went on drinking parties, and brought homeless people into the apartments. Her son lived with her from time to time, but at the time of the incident he was already serving his eighth criminal sentence in a correctional institution.

The fact that the defendant, the city administration, did not take any measures was confirmed in the decision of the magistrate, which has already entered into force. The court also found that the plaintiffs repeatedly contacted the defendant about the violation of the rights to live in the “fun” apartment, but the defendant did not take any measures.

The defendant’s representative also did not appear in the city court, which last week began considering the claim of the pensioner and her daughter, in which they demanded moral compensation for the suffering caused.

In court, the pensioner said that her health worsened due to the cadaverous smell in the apartment and the stress she had to experience. She also provided as evidence a video recording of the very worms falling out of the socket.

The judge asked the plaintiffs - a pensioner and her daughter - to determine the amount of moral damage in favor of each of the applicants, as well as to submit additional documents proving moral damage was caused to them.

The women demanded compensation of 100 thousand rubles from the city administration.

Today the Petrozavodsk court made a final decision. A representative of the administration insisted that the mayor's office cannot be held responsible for the improper maintenance of housing by the tenant of a municipal apartment, but a representative of the prosecutor's office objected, believing that the administration was to blame for inaction in relation to the “problem apartment.” As a result, the court agreed with the women’s arguments and ordered the city administration to pay the eldest applicant 60 thousand rubles; the amount of compensation for material damage for her daughter was reduced by 15 thousand rubles. Thus, the Petrozavodsk mayor’s office must pay her 25 thousand.

Maggots crawled out of the cracks, and the smell made my head spin: the corpse had been rotting for almost a month in the dormitory

In a locked dormitory room in Ussuriysk, a man’s corpse had been decomposing for almost a month. Neighbors sounded the alarm when maggots fell from the ceiling and the smell of carrion appeared in the corridor. The relatives of the deceased did not communicate, so it was impossible to get into the room. The neighbors took the initiative into their own hands. The correspondent visited the hostel on Gubriya, 17. IA UssurMedia.

The picturesque lake behind the house and the eerie catacombs, which we dare not call an entrance, are a dissonance for us, but for the residents of the hostel at 17 Gubria Street it is a common sight. The premises were filled with clouds of flies and plump maggots crawled out of all the cracks. In addition to the nauseating smell of carrion.

The source of the emergency is a room on the fifth floor. It was from there that the terrible cadaverous stench oozed. And then the larvae came out. The residents of the apartment below suffered the most from the expansion of the worms. It was they who began to fall on their heads with maggots who found a loophole in the ceiling where the chandelier was attached. We had to hang bags from the ceiling so that the nasty guests would fall into them.

The residents' nerves could not stand it. Of course, no one responded to the knock. The only person who could partially shed light on the situation was a neighbor on the floor. Valentina has known the tenant of the smelly apartment for a long time: “Igor used to work as a taxi driver, and then he quit and started drinking. He drank heavily, which may be why he got sick. The doctors didn’t tell us what exactly. They only stated that he was a “chronician.” It happened that I couldn’t get out of bed, and most often I had to move around in a wheelchair. I passed it very quickly, dried up like a cat. Although he was still young, he was about 45 years old. His relatives did not visit him, I periodically went to see how he was doing. On July 24, I knocked on his door, he answered, saying, I’ll open it now, then I heard a roar - he fell. In terms of sound, it’s very close, near the bathroom. That's where they found him..."

On August 14, when the stench became unbearable and maggots stubbornly moved into neighboring apartments, residents began to sound the alarm. The police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations were called.

“They brought a “lift”, the local police officer got up and took a photograph through the window. Yes, the corpse lies, as I expected - near the bathroom. Where was the last time I heard a rumble? But you can't get into the apartment. To do this, you need permission from your relatives, but you can’t get through to them by phone. That’s what they told us: we have no right to break into the apartment,” said the neighbor.

Then the residents took the initiative into their own hands. They broke down the door on their own.

“When the door was opened, such a wave came out, the smell of decomposition. I quickly closed my door, my head was already spinning,” shared a neighbor from the apartment opposite.

Despite the fact that the apartment and floor were immediately treated with special agents, and the maggots were collected and burned, a persistent smell of carrion and a cloud of fat flies buzzing in the entrance remained a reminder of the ill-fated events. Resonating with deathly silence. Because the shock of what happened will not go away soon for the residents.

Let's find out how corpse worms perform their work in nature?

Despite the fact that the basis of everything and everyone on our planet is life, death also goes hand in hand with it. As sad as it may be, every form of life on the planet encounters it sooner or later.

Nature is very wise, and therefore took care in advance of the timely destruction of outdated organic matter. And the corpse worms help her in this. Whatever emotions they evoke in us, we have to admit that in nature they play an extremely important role. Let's look at this in more detail.

So, suppose that some animal died in the forest. What happens to a corpse if it is not discovered by large scavengers in time? Of course, the flies are the first to flock to such a tasty morsel. Moreover, the usual house flies and blue blow flies arrive first. A little later, when the first cadaveric spots begin to appear on the corpse, representatives of the species gray sarcophagus and lucilia appear on it. Their larvae are known to us as corpse worms.

What is their role? First of all, fly larvae begin to feed on dead organic matter, liquefying (lysing) it. This way they make it more accessible to other saprophytes. As studies by some naturalists show, fairly large corpses of animals and even humans can be completely destroyed by fly larvae in just a couple of weeks.

Of course, this only happens in artificially created conditions, since in the natural environment many organisms take part in the destruction of dead organic matter, among which insects play an important role.

By the way, you don’t need to think that insect larvae are the only guests at this feast. On the contrary, real dramas sometimes play out on the mortal body! So, by the time a large number of worms develop on the body, the so-called little beetles (Haster) appear on it. They feed on... no, not the corpse itself, but precisely those fly larvae that live on it!

This creates a balance between the number of larvae and the number of adult insects that can arise from them. If not for this natural regulation, each fly larva could develop to the adult stage. Can you imagine how many corpse flies there would have been in nature then?

After the creatures described above have worked on the dead body, almost all the rotten flesh disappears and the corpse begins to dry out. At this time, carpet beetles appear on it. They are drawn to dry areas and help destroy dried pieces of skin and cartilage. As a result of their activity, the skeleton breaks down into separate bones.

However, if the body is located in a damp and poorly ventilated place, skin beetles will not appear on it. Under these conditions, all the flesh will be destroyed by the already repeatedly mentioned corpse worms, which in this case will have no competitors. However, it is worth mentioning that in damp and warm rooms, lichens and molds begin to play an important role.

Thus, in the world around us there is an eternal cycle of matter, which is an important part of the existence of life on our planet. Moreover, corpse worms, which are extremely unpleasant for us, play a crucial role in this process: by destroying dead organic matter, they prevent diseases and epidemics from spreading.
