FAQ: Frequently asked questions and their answers. Bed bugs, cockroaches, ticks, rats and mice

Every day (including weekends) we carry out an average of 6-7 bedbug treatments. Of course, we very often receive feedback on our work. And although most of these reviews simply contain the opinions of clients about the destruction of bedbugs by SanMariDez specialists, some of them in one way or another contain questions, claims, and various misconceptions, to which the reviewers are clearly waiting for an answer.

Exterminator SanMariDez destroys bedbugs

In addition, we receive live feedback on the work of our exterminators directly over the phone: clients call us, thank us, and clarify something. In such cases, we answer all questions and doubts directly. But when reviews are left on third-party platforms (forums, YouTube, social networks), we respond there. And often we encounter the same questions, criticism and misconceptions in different reviews from different people. We collect such reviews and post them all on this page with comments from our disinfectors, sanitary doctors and entomological specialists. This allows many people to dispel certain fears, get answers to questions and make the right decision even before calling the service. We hope this collection of opinions and answers will help you too. So study, and we will add them to this page as new recurring reviews about the destruction of bedbugs appear.

What do SES poison bedbugs with?

The services of exterminators are the most effective solution in the fight against insects. That is why it is always interesting what the SES poisons bedbugs with: what if such a product is easy to find in a nearby store?

The pest control center staff uses toxins such as Biorin, Extermin or Sinuzan. If it is fundamentally important for a client how much it costs to poison bedbugs, they can offer him budget options: products with a strong odor, for example, Tetrix. But more important than the drug itself is the dosage in which it is diluted by sanitary service specialists. For each specific case, the decision on the choice and concentration of the product is made by exterminators, since only they know exactly the safe and effective way to kill parasites.

About the price. Do not think that it is expensive to poison bedbugs with the help of professionals - the price is quite affordable, especially considering that you are forever getting rid of blood-sucking parasites that can cause serious damage to your health.

Bed bugs

Where and why do bedbugs appear at home?

There are quite a few ways to become infected with bedbugs. Even if your apartment is clean and tidy, bedbugs could be brought in by guests or you yourself could bring them on your clothes, bedbugs could move to you from your neighbors, and there are also frequent cases of bedbug infestation with the purchase of new furniture. The exact cause of infection is almost impossible to determine.

In the morning we find itchy redness on the skin. Who can cause these bites?

It is almost certain that you have bed bugs in your home .

There are suspicions that we are being bitten by bedbugs, but we searched everything during the day and never found anyone. Maybe we're just looking in the wrong place?

If bedbugs have recently appeared in your home, during daylight hours they hide in secluded places, protected from light. Bed bugs begin their hunt at night. Also, bed bugs multiply very quickly, and after a while bed bugs can be found even during the day, on the walls, on the bed or on the ceiling.

My child, husband and I sleep in the same room. Why do my child and I get bitten, but my husband doesn’t?

As practice shows, bed bugs do not bite only every fifth person. The thing is that bedbugs are very picky in choosing a victim; people with soft and thin skin are more preferable to them.

Where to go if we find bedbug bites on our body?

To solve this problem, there are specialized SES organizations that have the necessary equipment and experience to solve such problems. For example, “SES Control” - our sanitary and epidemiological station has been successfully fighting bedbugs for many years, which means you can contact us.

How harmful is disinfection to children and pets?

Animals can wait in the kitchen, but for children it is better to take a walk in the fresh air while processing and airing, a total of about 2.5 hours. If you have an aquarium, you must turn off the oxygen supply system and close the lid. Another method is to carry out disinfestation with odorless microencapsulated preparations. They are absolutely harmless, so there is no need to leave the apartment.

What is the difference between standard treatment and fog generator treatment?

The standard treatment is to spray the solution using a hand-held pneumatic sprayer. This treatment is targeted and carried out in the main habitats of insects. Suitable for those objects where the problem appeared relatively recently, and the insect habitats are local.

Treatment with a fog generator is a new technology for treating rooms, which allows the smallest particles of fog to penetrate deeper into all kinds of crevices and fabrics (primarily bedding) in a short time. The resulting drops do not immediately settle on the surface, forming a suspension in the air that completely fills the room and penetrates into all hard-to-reach places.

Why is Odorless or Mist treatment more expensive than regular treatment?

Unfortunately, all odorless drugs imported are mainly supplied from the European Union - this is the reason for their higher effectiveness and price, which is also subject to fluctuations in the € exchange rate.

As for fog generators, they are also all imported and expensive. Despite the fact that the work of treating a room with fog takes less time from a specialist, there is depreciation of the equipment and periodic expensive maintenance and repairs.

How long after treatment should bedbugs disappear?

As a rule, it takes from 5 to 14 days . Don't believe in fairy tales about the instant disappearance of bed bugs! The fact is that each individual crawls out to feed itself approximately once every 5 days, therefore, until then, the insect is in the shelter and does not become infected from the surface treated with poison. It takes no more than 14 days for the complete death of all insects, and if the problem is not solved during this period, then the treatment should be repeated.

Often after treatment there are even more bedbugs! What is the reason?

Let's think sensibly: after treating your apartment or house, there cannot be more insects a priori! Poisoned insects begin to look for safe, untreated places in order to survive, so they begin to actively move in search. Moreover, in the first days their bites may become more active. But, as a rule, after a few days the bedbugs disappear.

Are the drugs you use safe?

We use only modern, certified drugs that are safe for people and warm-blooded animals. It is also safe for flowers and any type of plant.

Are there drugs that are odorless and do they have a weaker effect? We were treated, but there was still some smell.

Today, there are no 100% odorless preparations , otherwise it’s just ordinary water. “Odorless” means with a mild signal odor that quickly dissipates . Conventional preparations actually smell quite long and unpleasant, and the difference between them is very noticeable.

How to get rid of bedbugs in the sofa, bedbugs in the bed?

How to get bedbugs out of a sofa? How to get bedbugs out of a bed? It’s very simple, to get rid of bedbugs in furniture in the bedroom or living room - they need to be destroyed, for this it is enough to thoroughly treat it with a professional disinfectant. Ideally, treating furniture against bedbugs is carried out with a cold fog generator, which will envelop all surfaces of the sofa, bed or closet with a haze of dissolved poison, which will not leave the insects a single chance of survival.

You can also carry out independent treatment of furniture from bedbugs . To do this, use a household sprayer to apply the drug to places where insects accumulate. You can purchase professional preparations that do not leave residue on furniture and are odorless in our store: pest control products store . Just remember that if bedbugs have settled in furniture and catch your eye, then the insects have long occupied other secluded places in the apartment - cracks, crevices in the walls, behind baseboards and wallpaper. In this case, in order to get rid of parasites, you need to completely destroy bedbugs in the apartment , and not just the infected furniture.

Is it possible or not to kill bedbugs yourself?

Theoretically it is possible, but in practice only a few succeed. The fact is that bedbugs have high immunity and the ability to become addicted to the drugs with which they were poisoned.

Do not waste your time trying to get rid of folk remedies (wormwood, vinegar, etc.) - this is useless in relation to “modern” urban bedbugs. Treatment with purchased disinfectants is more effective . But this requires experience, as well as a minimum set of protective equipment for the person who will carry out the treatment in his apartment. In addition, those products that are sold in household chemical stores are often fake, as evidenced by their low price. Effective drugs are sold only under license, for legal entities and by bank transfer, or in bulk.

What needs to be done before the master arrives?

Before ordering the extermination of bed bugs in an apartment or house, you must do the following:

  • remove bed linen and put it in the wash, wash at a temperature not lower than +60°C;
  • free up inner drawers of sofas and space under beds;
  • set aside all light furniture around the perimeter of the room by 10 cm for access to the baseboards and back walls;
  • remove paintings from the walls.

How long does it take to process an apartment?

Processing a standard one-room apartment, along with the time allotted for paperwork, takes about half an hour. Two-room apartment - 40-50 minutes.

What is a barrier, is it needed and what is it?

A barrier is a treatment with microencapsulated drugs , in which the active substance is placed in a capsule coated with a polymer film. Insects die when they touch the drug as a result of capsule rupture. This mechanism ensures a long-term (more than 10 weeks) residual effect on the surface. This prevents further penetration and migration of insects. Other drugs disappear completely after 2 weeks.

How long after poisoning bedbugs can you return to your apartment?

After treating insects, you must leave the apartment for 2 hours , and when you return after two hours, open the windows and ventilate. It will be possible to live in the apartment as before 3 hours after disinfestation.

What to do if after treatment the bedbugs do not disappear?

Unfortunately, this does not happen rarely, however, in this case you are protected by a guarantee . After the first treatment, you must wait 14 days (SANPIN standards), but if after this period the problem remains, a specialist will come and re-treat for free .

Why don't the bugs die all at once?

According to their functions, there are two types of drugs for killing bedbugs .

  • Drugs from the first group are direct-acting drugs, that is, the effect of their use appears only during processing. After airing, such a preparation evaporates and its effect on baiting bedbugs stops, which means you will have to destroy the bedbugs again. Preparations of this group are ineffective when treating against bedbugs, since they do not destroy hidden individuals and their eggs.
  • The second group of drugs is luring, long-lasting. These are the drugs that are used in our company. The essence of the drug’s action is that, in addition to killing bedbugs, it infects them and the infected bedbugs subsequently infect other individuals in the colony. It also lasts a long time on surfaces. Therefore, our product destroys bedbugs that have not yet hatched from eggs during treatment.

Why are there no free replay guarantees after a few months?

Pest control is essentially a medical service that cannot be covered by a free guarantee. We can only guarantee the destruction of insects , and not the prevention of their reappearance. And if someone promises you such guarantees, then most likely you are faced with scammers who simply will not fulfill their obligations - they will find some subclause in the contract or simply will not answer your calls.

Some believe that providing a guarantee is a way to make money from clients throughout the entire year after treatment. This is wrong. Payment of 50% of the cost of the initial processing is, in fact, the cost of the work, which means the company will suffer temporary and reputational losses. Therefore, it is in our interests that the pest problem does not arise again , however, this largely depends on the clients themselves - if the house is unsanitary and careless, then this is fraught with the regular appearance of insects despite any treatments. Order in the house is the key to health; you should remember this simple rule.

We bought a Raptor-type spray at the store and treated the apartment ourselves for bedbugs, but no matter how hard we tried, it was useless. Recommend an effective remedy.

All drugs that are sold in hypermarkets are usually ineffective, since they have no residual effect, killing the insect only when a direct spray of the drug hits it. To treat one room you will need at least five of these cans. In addition, all sprays are harmful to humans and when spraying, it is necessary to use a respirator.

Does your organization have a license to carry out disinfection?

In accordance with the order of Rospotrebnadzor dated July 19, 2007.
No. 224 “On sanitary and epidemiological examinations, examinations, studies, tests and toxicological, hygienic and other types of assessments”, disinfection activities are not subject to sanitary and epidemiological examination. According to Article 12 of the Federal Law of the Russian Federation dated May 4, 2011. No. 99-FZ “On licensing of certain types of activities”, disinfection activities are not included in the list of activities that require a license.

From the above, a simple conclusion follows that companies that indicate the presence of a license in the list of documents simply do not have one, or have a “fake” version, hoping in this way to instill more confidence in the customer.

Destruction of bedbugs

Procedure for removing parasites

Repeated treatment differs from the first only in the use of a different poison.
Treatment against bedbugs occurs in several stages:

  1. The apartment is inspected by specialists, and a poisoning option is selected. Residents are told in detail about the procedure for preparing the premises and how the work will be carried out, how long they cannot stay in the apartment after disinfection from bedbugs, and they calculate how much it costs to disinfect the apartment.
  2. The apartment is being prepared for treatment against bedbugs, and the residents are leaving.
  3. Specialists clean the rooms for several hours and then ventilate them.
  4. If it was not possible to completely destroy the parasites the first time, the procedure is repeated, but a different poison is used.
  5. Cleaning after disinfestation should include disinfection and wet cleaning; it is also necessary to disinfect surfaces that came into contact with the poison.

Important! Bedbugs adapt well to the effects of poison; surviving individuals will develop immunity to the poison used, and therefore re-treatment is carried out with a different agent.

Cockroaches

What are the guarantees that cockroaches will not appear?

Any SES service cannot vouch for the impossibility of cockroaches appearing in the future, since this directly depends on you and on objective factors (sanitary conditions in the room, the presence of cockroaches in your neighbors’ house, etc.)

The only thing that can be guaranteed is their destruction . And our Service copes with this.

But we always try to accommodate our clients and if the problem arises again, we only pay for consumables, the visit and work of a specialist is free.

Why are competitors cheaper?

Not cheaper! This is a simple and, unfortunately, common marketing ploy. Remember - cheap is never good!

Considering the current cost of consumables and the harmful work of a specialist - less than 2000 rubles. Treatment for cockroaches cannot cost! Most likely they will hype you up on the spot : “...let’s add this and that, here’s a stronger drug, but more expensive...”, etc. And clients often fall for such deception. If you refuse to pay “extra,” they will simply treat your apartment with water or cheap toxic and poorly ventilated chemicals, which can bring you not only discomfort, but also a potential health hazard.

They set our saber on fire, why didn’t it help?

Bingo, and you have fallen for the scammers! This is a banal scam. The checkers are designed to repel flying insects (mosquitoes, moths, flies) and nothing more! This has no effect on cockroaches and especially bedbugs. Setting a fire and putting a bomb in your apartment is both cheap and requires no labor - you don’t need to walk around with equipment, move furniture, turn over beds, etc. You can just as easily burn incense sticks - you will save money and rid yourself of the long-lasting suffocating smell.

There are a lot of cockroaches in our neighbors, what should we do?

Ideally, such disadvantaged neighbors are ready for dialogue and a joint fight against parasites. This is not always possible in practice, so at least secure your home and carry out the treatment. If you don't make any efforts, cockroaches will multiply very quickly. Additional protection will be “barrier treatment” with the addition of a special microencapsulated product, which will serve as an additional prevention of the reappearance of insects

Why do more cockroaches appear after treatment?

In fact, the number of cockroaches in the treated apartment cannot possibly increase; it’s just that the poison that penetrated into all the secluded places affected the cockroaches that did not catch your eye. After treatment, not all poisoned cockroaches die immediately, but continue to go crazy for some time - the instincts of cockroaches are suppressed, so they run out to the surface and behave fearlessly. Many people mistake this effect for an increase in the number of cockroaches.

How to call the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station?

And finally, about the most difficult thing. Calling the SES to remove bedbugs is quite a difficult task. Although the responsibilities of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station include extermination measures against bedbugs, the service itself and its specialists are constantly very busy with work, and when private individuals apply for sanitation, they are usually redirected to other disinfestation services (private firms).

However, it is still possible to get the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station to visit a residential building or apartment.

It is also useful to read: Disinfection of an apartment from bedbugs

And one more thing: We caught bedbugs and tested the effect of GEKTOR powder on them - it turned out to be quite a lethal thing...

First you need to talk to your neighbors and find out if anyone has a similar problem. As a rule, if more than two apartments in an apartment building are infested with bedbugs, then the SES will definitely come to check the situation. Therefore, when calling the station, you should definitely report that several apartments are infested at once, and also add that one of the residents has a severe allergy to bedbug bites (if this is true).

It would be even more effective to contact the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station with a complaint about unclean neighbors or businesses near residential buildings that are a source of bedbugs and do not take measures to exterminate them. The fight against such spreaders of parasites is one of the main tasks of the SES, and service specialists respond to such calls very quickly.

Let us note once again that we are talking about SES, which is a state organization, and not about small companies with similar names.

Rats and mice

What if a rat or mouse eats poison - will it die somewhere in the house and then there will be an unpleasant smell?

This should not happen, since in our work we use only drugs with a mummifying effect - this is when only a shell remains of the pests, or drugs that contain a special substance that increases their pressure and lack of oxygen, which makes rodents want to run out of the room into the air and are already dying on the street.

We have pets in our house. What happens if a pet eats poison for rats or mice and gets poisoned too?

Do not worry! All baits are placed in places that are as inaccessible to pets as possible. In addition, the certified preparations used include a special substance that tastes unbearably bitter (rodents do not have taste buds), so pets will not be able to swallow it. The poison in the preparations is also calculated based on the mass of pests, and domestic pets, for example, dogs and cats, are much larger than rats and mice, which means that for poisoning they need a significantly larger dose of the drug, which excludes the first sentences of the answer to the question.

Extermination of rats Extermination of mice

What means does the SES use against bedbugs?

Depending on the situation and some opportunistic factors, SES specialists poison bedbugs with various insecticidal agents. The final decision on the use of a particular drug is made after a specialist visits the premises and assesses the degree of contamination.

In addition, the type of room itself also plays a certain role in choosing a remedy for bedbugs. For example, sanitation of cabins during the non-living season can be carried out with powerful, strong-smelling preparations, which are usually more affordable in price than equally effective products without a strong odor. If the client wants to save money, he can order sanitation with odorous preparations in a private house or apartment.

Most often, treatment for bedbugs by specialists of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station is carried out using the following means:

  • Biorin is an aqueous emulsion of the insecticide deltamethrin and several of its synergists. Has an unpleasant smell. It is sprayed using special aerosol generators (so-called fog generators).
  • Sinusan is an emulsion concentrate based on chlorpyrifos, very effective against bedbugs and other domestic insects. Its analogue is insect repellent Minap 22.
  • Tetrix is a powerful Dutch remedy with a very pungent, nasty odor. Perhaps this is one of the most effective and popular drugs in the SES for sanitation against bedbugs and cockroaches.
  • Chlorpirimak is an improved version of Tetrix. Contains a set of fragrances to mask the odor, and therefore is more convenient for use in residential areas.
  • Effective Ultra is a fairly modern product that contains tetramethrin, propoxur, MGK-264 and piperonyl butoxide. Such a complex composition of the poison guarantees that parasites will not develop resistance to this drug.
  • Extermin is a microencapsulated drug based on chlorpyrifos, which has a prolonged effect.

Different departments and stations of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service use different drugs. Therefore, if it is important for the customer to know what is used to poison bedbugs at a particular SES, then they should ask this question on the first call to the station.

This is interesting

Sanitary and epidemiological stations carry out the destruction of bedbugs only with those means that, in accordance with GOSTs, belong to the 3rd and 4th classes of danger to humans (low-hazardous, at least in ready-to-use form). Most of them do not cause irritation when they come into contact with human skin, and only with repeated exposure do they sometimes lead to irritation or an allergic reaction. However, if they enter the respiratory tract or digestive tract, the drugs may well cause severe poisoning.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Station itself does not officially sell drugs for killing bedbugs, and therefore you should not call the service and find out prices. But there are always and everywhere various workarounds: as the experience of many independent bedbug fighters shows, it is quite possible to buy funds by coming to the local SES and talking with the people working there.

Ticks

Where do ticks live?

Most often this is soil, fallen leaves, grass, bushes and a vegetable garden. Ticks often fall on people from trees.

When is the best time to treat an area for ticks?

As soon as the soil temperature rises to +3-5 degrees, mites begin to become active. To obtain the desired result, anti-tick treatment must be carried out in the spring; our company begins acaricidal treatments in mid-April as soon as the snow cover melts. In hot summers, outbreaks of tick activity may occur in August - in this case, repeated treatment is recommended.

How dangerous are tick bites?

Ticks carry more than 80 infectious diseases, 20 of which humans are most susceptible to: encephalitis, Lyme disease (Lyme borelliosis), tick-borne typhus, hemorrhagic fever and many others. The destruction of ticks in a summer cottage at the beginning of the tick season is the basis for peace of mind for people and pets.

Treatment of tick-borne diseases, even with the use of modern equipment and medications, is a very expensive undertaking.

How to get rid of ticks and prevent further occurrence of parasites?

The most effective method is acaricidal treatment with a fog generator . In addition, you can treat your area yourself using professional disinfectants. Trees, shrubs, grass, as well as fences, other fences and other adjacent elements of the territory are subject to treatment. Work to destroy ticks using this method must be carried out in warm and dry weather, since it is under such conditions that the drug solution properly crystallizes on foliage, grass and other surfaces. As crystals, insecticides remain for a long time in the places where ticks are mainly located, causing their mass death.

What are the ways to kill bedbugs?

Meanwhile, traditional or home methods continue to compete with chemical methods of control.

Folk methods of control are the destruction of bedbugs using improvised means, let's look at some of them:

  1. Evaporation of surfaces (only suitable for treating textile surfaces).
  2. Lubricating bedbug-infested surfaces with a concentrated solution of acetic acid (requires repeated work at intervals of 1 to 2 days).
  3. Lubricating the habitats of bedbugs with valerian tincture (requires repeated use, as it does not affect insect eggs).

These are just a few folk remedies for bedbugs; in general, we can say about them that they require a lot of patience and perseverance from the victim, since it is not known how quickly this or that method will work, and whether it will work in your case.

Unlike folk remedies, chemical control methods are usually a reliable result. But even here you need to be careful, since traditional chemicals (karbofos, etc.) are not suitable for killing the new generation of bedbugs; they note the high resistance of modern insects to many chemicals, which have been considered a reliable solution to the problem of bedbugs for almost a century.

Based on the method of applying chemicals, we can distinguish:

  • Aerosol treatment;
  • Application of wet chemicals;
  • Gasification of the room (using a cold and hot fog generator).

Herbicide treatment. Weed control

Are herbicide treatments safe for humans and pets?

Weeds are destroyed by spraying special certified herbicides that are officially approved for use in Russia, so the drugs do not have a harmful effect on humans, but it is not recommended to be on the site during treatment.

When is the best time to treat a site for weeds?

Treatment against weeds can be carried out as soon as they appear on the site, that is, in early May, until the site is overgrown with impenetrable weeds. However, weed control is possible throughout the entire season, that is, treatments are carried out throughout the summer period. Moreover, to combat Sosnowski's hogweed, to completely get rid of this herculean herb, several treatments per season are required for 2-3 years!

How dangerous is Sosnovsky's hogweed?

Hogweed is a poisonous plant - both the weed juice itself, especially in sunny weather, and its pollen pose a danger.

In sunny weather, hogweed juice getting on the skin causes severe burns. Hogweed pollen during flowering can cause allergies and burns of the respiratory tract. Getting hogweed juice or pollen into your eyes can cause blindness! Therefore, this plant must be avoided!

What is the fine for hogweed on the site?

Since November 2022, the Law on the destruction of hogweed on the territory and sites of legal entities and ordinary citizens has come into force. Therefore, for an area overgrown with hogweed, you can receive a real administrative fine, the amount of which is determined separately for legal entities and individuals. Read more: fine for hogweed .

How to get rid of hogweed?

Sosnovsky's hogweed is such a tenacious and prolific weed that it is very difficult to get rid of it quickly and forever from a plot, especially when everything is neglected and the area has been occupied by weeds for many years.

You can mow the hogweed regularly, however, in a couple of weeks in good weather everything will grow back even more widely. You can mow endlessly. The most effective herbicide treatment of Sosnovsky's hogweed . For this purpose, special preparations are used to destroy plants, which literally kill all weeds within 2-3 weeks. However, to completely get rid of hogweed on a site, you may need several treatments per season, and repeat treatments for up to 3 years to completely remove hogweed from the site .

How effective is the SES: reviews from people

When reading reviews, it is sometimes difficult to understand whether we are talking about the state SES, or about the work of private pest control services, mistakenly called by the same abbreviation. However, sometimes it is possible to make such a division.

Review:

“The first time bedbugs were noticed in the apartment was on New Year’s Eve. When the first horror passed, we realized that we needed to fight quickly so as not to itch on New Year's Eve. We poisoned the bedbugs with Get, a good remedy, and for a couple of weeks the parasites were not visible at all. And then they appeared again. It is clear that they are creeping from the neighbors. We suspected an apartment on the floor above - the Koreans rented it and set up a workshop there for preparing spicy carrots. We talked to the neighbors above them - they had the same problem, only with cockroaches. It turned out that bedbugs were crawling from them even into the neighboring front door. They infected eight apartments! We went with the whole crowd, snorted at them, they got scared, poisoned their bedbugs with some kind of smelly muck, but there was no point. Closer to summer, everything started all over again. By that time, we had already removed bedbugs three times. They couldn’t stand it, they wrote a collective complaint to the district SES. As a result, the SES itself found the owner of the apartment, called him from Moscow, and ordered sanitation. And only after that the bedbugs disappeared everywhere.”

Anton, Voronezh

Another review:

“We were really let down by the Stop-Bed company. The guy came, quickly went through everything in five minutes, gave me some piece of paper without a signature and left. He only said that the next day there would be no more bedbugs. But they appeared again three days later! We called the company again, they promised us, they promised us, but they didn’t come. We wrote a complaint to the local SES and described the situation. Our auntie immediately came to us, checked everything, found several nests of bedbugs, and went to check on the neighbors. As a result, a team from the sanitary and epidemiological station arrived centrally and poisoned bedbugs in two front doors in eight or nine apartments. This is what I understand, work. Then, about five weeks later, another specialist from the SES came to us and checked that there were no more bedbugs.”

Inna, Samara

Almost always, SES services for sanitation of an apartment from bedbugs are cheaper than the corresponding services of private companies. So, for example, treatment of a one-room apartment costs about 1000-1200 rubles in the Sanitary and Epidemiological Stations of large cities, and 1400-1500 rubles for a two-room apartment, depending on the layout of the apartment itself and its location.

At the same time, the efficiency of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Stations in most cases is quite high, and disinsection by its specialists can even be considered somewhat standard. Therefore, if possible, then first of all you should contact the SES, and only if it is impossible to call its specialists can you begin to consider other options.

If you have personal experience of interacting with the SES regarding the removal of bed bugs, be sure to leave your review at the bottom of this page.

5 rules for choosing a pest control service to kill bedbugs

Disinfectants. Preparations against insects and rodents

What remedy can you recommend for cockroaches?

Today, the most effective means for controlling cockroaches are drugs of the peritroid group based on Cypermethrin, such as Cyperthrin, Cifox, Alfacin . FOS insecticides such as Agran, Averfos and Efficient also cope well with this task. All these are emulsion concentrates, which are diluted in the required proportion with water, then the solution is applied to the surface by spraying according to the instructions.

How can you get rid of bedbugs?

Bedbugs are very tenacious insects with a strong, developed immune system. In addition, they are practically invisible to the naked eye. The best method is to spray their habitats and accumulations (upholstered furniture, joints of wallpaper, baseboards, sockets, etc.)

The best medicines for bedbugs today are Forssyth, Averfos, Agran, Blockade Antiklop, Confidant, K-Otrin and Xulat.

Do gels help in removing cockroaches?

Gels are a ready-made poison for cockroaches, which they eat, after which poisoning occurs. Along with traps and crayons, this is nothing more than a preventive measure. If cockroaches crawl, it is better to use professional chemicals in the form of emulsion concentrates.

How can you poison rats and mice yourself?

Currently, the market for disinfectants is simply huge, so there are products for rodent control . You can immediately discard ineffective mousetraps and ultrasonic repellers, this is a waste of money and time. The best method for killing rodents is poisoned bait . But there are several nuances here too. The choice of such baits is very diverse and rodents will actually eat every poison. The second problem is that a rat or mouse poisoned in your premises will emit a stench for two to three months. Therefore, it is more correct to use two types of bait: either with a mummifying effect (Rat Death, Storm), or bait that contains a special substance that increases the pressure of rodents, causing them to inevitably run into fresh air.

Is Testox safe for pets?

The product contains a special substance that tastes very bitter, which pets simply will not eat, and rodents simply do not feel bitterness due to the lack of receptors. However, to avoid any risks, all baits should be placed in places that are difficult for pets to reach.

Do you have everything you need to process it yourself?

Yes, of course, from us you can purchase not only insecticides, but also related products necessary for processing - a respirator, sprayer, goggles, gloves, protective suit, etc.

More than once they came to process it from other companies and it didn’t help. We want to process it ourselves. How to do this and is it safe?

This is possible, for this it is important to understand with what means the treatment has already been carried out in order to avoid insects becoming accustomed to the drug (bugs or cockroaches). The cost of doing it yourself will be less expensive. In order to carry out the processing correctly, we have included detailed instructions. As for disinfectants, they are all certified and approved for use in residential premises, and are absolutely safe when used correctly.

Preparing the apartment for processing

Preparation
Before the arrival of specialists and the start of sanitary treatment of the room from bedbugs, it is necessary to prepare the place:

  1. Place all food, clothing, dishes and personal items in tightly closed boxes or bags to prevent poison from getting on them;
  2. Move the furniture to the center of the room and cover it with a thick cloth, which can then be thrown away;
  3. Clear passages for specialists to walls, corners, and places where pests accumulate;
  4. Remove all plants from the premises, remove pets and leave the whole family for a few hours.

Important! Since bed bugs die within 2-4 weeks after pest control, they may continue to bite for a while.

Methods of destroying parasites

It is recommended to carry out sanitation at the same time as your neighbors. If they didn’t kill the bloodsuckers, they can easily get back into your apartment. An agreement for disposal, disinfestation, and deratization can be drawn up with the management company.

To get rid of bedbugs, you can use insecticides: “Raptor”, “Dichlorvos”. You can carry out disinfection yourself. When processing, there should be no small children or pets in the room, since the active substances contained in pest repellents are toxic. When working with toxic substances, you must be careful.

You can also use folk remedies: herbs, changing the temperature, constant lighting of the room. Such methods, however, are less effective. The death of insects does not occur, they only crawl away to other places. If not all the bugs are gone, the population will quickly recover. It will not be possible to get rid of infection using these methods even in cases where parasite eggs remain.

To remove bloodsuckers from the premises, it is better to call the SES. Specialists from the sanitary and epidemiological station use special means that destroy insects. You can also use their services for deratization, destruction of fleas, flies, wood lice, cockroaches, ants, eliminating odors in the refrigerator, and disinfection.

Cold fog

It is necessary to call a service that uses professional equipment to kill bedbugs using a similar method. Masters use aerosol cold fog generators. The device breaks liquid droplets into microscopic ones, and then blows them out of the nozzle with an air stream. They remain in the air of the treated room for 1 to 2.5 hours and penetrate into any holes or cracks, spreading chemicals. Under the influence of the insecticide used, the bedbugs die.

One of the extremely effective ways to combat bedbugs is cold fog.

The advantages of the method are high efficiency and versatility of application. This method of fighting allows you to quickly process even a large space. The poison penetrates into the smallest crevices, so the pest population will completely die out.

The disadvantages are the high price and high toxicity of steam for humans. Only people wearing a special protective suit can be in the room during processing. If it is not possible to put on protection, the person will have to leave during the disinfestation.

Hot fog

Hot fog easily destroys bedbug eggs.

Another effective method of treating a city apartment from insects is the use of hot fog. You will need to call employees of a specialized company or firm that has the necessary equipment. Drops of water containing the chemical come out of the apparatus heated to 60°. The poison scattered throughout the room will act for 10-12 hours. At this time, no one lives in the room.

The advantages are high efficiency with low insecticide consumption, complete disappearance of parasites, and time saving. The liquid penetrates even the smallest holes and destroys adults, larvae, and eggs. Bedbugs disappear after this treatment, even with severe infestation. The disadvantages are the high cost and the possibility of an explosion due to any spark.

Basic steps after disinfestation

All exterminators of our service leave instructions to clients about what needs to be done after treating an apartment for bedbugs, how to clean the place and what needs to be done with things, furniture and food.

In general, after disinfestation in the apartment you need:

  • Keep it completely closed for a strictly defined period, the duration of which depends on the processing method;
  • Ventilate the apartment for at least an hour with a through air flow;
  • Wipe with a soap-soda solution those surfaces that people and pets come into contact with most often;
  • Rinse or wash clothes, wash dishes that have been left uncovered.

It is not recommended to carry out general wet cleaning immediately after treatment. In most cases, the optimal period for carrying it out is 5-6 days after disinfestation, when you can be absolutely sure that there are no bedbugs left in the room.

There is no need to wash the apartment immediately after treating and ventilating it, since in this case the effectiveness of the product will decrease and some of the bedbugs may survive.

After disinfection, conditioning the room for several hours and thorough ventilation, you can return to the apartment, you can sleep, eat, and conduct normal activities in it. You can also return children and all pets to it. The infusion and ventilation itself should be carried out taking into account some specifics. Let's take things in order here.

It is not advisable to clean the apartment for 5-6 days after treatment - this may reduce the effectiveness of treatment

Tips for 100% destruction of bedbugs.

1. Order in the apartment.

An important point is to properly prepare the apartment before processing. Carry out routine cleaning of the apartment, vacuum and wet-clean the floors, remove all items from open access into closets or plastic bags. Sleeping places, sofas, beds, armchairs and bedside tables need to be moved 50-70 cm away from the walls. Provide our specialist with access to water.

2. Ventilation of the room.

Windows and vents may be open during the event, and immediately closed after treatment; people and pets should not be in the room due to safety precautions based on sanitary standards and regulations. Apartments must be kept for 1.5 to 2 hours with closed windows and doors in the absence of people and pets; this is necessary for better retention of the irrigated product.

3. Cleaning the apartment.

Before cleaning the apartment, the room must be ventilated for 60-90 minutes. It is necessary to carry out wet cleaning of contact areas, tables, countertops, door handles, etc. Wipe the floors with a damp cloth without touching the baseboards. Surfaces are washed with a solution of soda and soap.

4. Washing things.

It is better to wash everything that is possible at a temperature of at least 60 degrees and iron with steam. Items that cannot be washed should be taken to the dry cleaner. If you do not have the opportunity to treat things for bedbugs, they must be treated with a steam generator.

5. Vacuum cleaner.

It is better to vacuum all sleeping places and the entire apartment as often as possible; we recommend vacuuming for the first time only 3-4 days after extermination. It is very good to completely vacuum sofas with a special narrow nozzle in hard-to-reach places to eliminate larvae, eggs, and insects. The dust bag is disposed of in a sealed bag.

6. Sleeping place.

Beds should be placed at a distance of 20 cm from the wall for a month after treatment. It is better to use special covers for mattresses.

7. Visual inspection.

Browse all books and book bindings, cardboard and wood products. Bedbugs can also be found in wood, books, paper envelopes, etc. Carefully check all bags and suitcases for travel, electronics and household appliances. The presence of bedbugs in things can only be detected with a very careful and thorough inspection. Also carefully check the upholstered furniture for all seams and folds. Bedbugs can be found on carpets.

8. General cleaning of the apartment.

We recommend carrying out general cleaning no earlier than 4 weeks after the extermination measures, for maximum effect.

Harm from bedbugs to humans

Not every person knows how much discomfort and irritation these bloodsuckers can cause in life. So far, no cases of viral or bacterial infection have been identified.

It is important to know that in nature the population of these insects is a carrier of a large number of infectious diseases. Studies of these insects have identified dozens of pathogens. But to date, there have been no cases of people contracting infectious diseases from bed bug bites.

But this does not mean that bed bugs are pleasant neighbors and do not need to be eliminated.

Here are just some of the troubles you may encounter:

  • Allergic reactions.
  • Itching and hyperemia of the skin at the bite sites.
  • Scratching and infection and inflammation.
  • Anemia with numerous bites.
  • Sleep disturbance.
  • Feelings of fear and nervousness.

IMPORTANT : At the first symptoms of an allergy, you should immediately consult a doctor.

The mechanism of action of an insecticidal smoke bomb on bedbugs

A smoke bomb against bedbugs works on a principle similar to that of aerosols and sprays:

  1. The insecticide penetrates with smoke into the hiding places of the parasites, settles on the chitinous covers of their bodies and penetrates the spiracles;
  2. When it comes into contact with the body, the substance penetrates through the cuticle into soft tissues (pyrethroids in general and permethrin in particular have a contact effect), is absorbed into the hemolymph and reaches the nerve ganglia. In addition, when penetrating with smoke through the spiracles, the insecticide penetrates the hemolymph directly through the respiratory canaliculus system;
  3. Once in the nervous system, permethrin causes continuous excitation of nerve cells, which manifests itself in the paralysis of the insect and its rather rapid death.

When tiny particles of permethrin from smoke settle on various interior surfaces, the insecticide remains there for some time. In the future, if bedbugs run along such a surface, they inevitably catch particles of the substance on their paws and abdomen, which then penetrates their bodies, in the same way as it does when they simply settle on the integument. This provides a prolonged effect after a single treatment - the product remains for a long time in small crevices (for example, behind baseboards), where the housewife’s hand with a rag cannot reach, and continues to protect the room from single surviving bedbugs, as well as from young larvae hatching from eggs.

On a note

Permethrin also has a pronounced repellent effect on insects. For example, smoke bombs used in open spaces destroy only a small part of mosquitoes (which stay in an area of high smoke concentration for a long time), but they can scare off literally entire hordes of these insects - flying bloodsuckers quickly retreat from places where insecticidal smoke is distributed.

So keep in mind that when treating an apartment with a permethrin smoke bomb, partial migration of bedbugs from your apartment to your neighbors is possible, unless you create obstacles to this in advance by blocking such possible “retreat” routes.

The penetrating ability of insecticidal smoke from a bomb is generally comparable to that of a fine aerosol produced by a cold fog generator - similar installations are used by professional pest control services. The particle size in the aerosol cloud is only a few tens of microns (in the case of using the Raptor aquafumigator, as noted above, the penetrating ability of the aerosol is somewhat lower).

It is also worth considering that the price for treating a one-room apartment with cold fog against bedbugs today is 3,000-4,000 rubles. Self-treatment of an apartment with the same effectiveness using a smoke bomb will cost almost 10 times less.

What if you call specialists?

In most cases, to destroy bedbugs in an apartment, it is easier and more reliable to call a special pest control service, whose workers will treat the premises themselves and guarantee that the parasites will not appear again.

The services of pest control companies cost approximately 3-4 times more than what the owner of the premises will have to pay for the insecticidal preparation alone. For example, in Moscow, killing bedbugs in a one-room apartment costs about 2,000 rubles, while the cost of the drug Get, which is enough to treat the same area, is about 750 rubles. But at the same time, reliable companies guarantee the destruction of bedbugs, but the result of independent treatment, even with an effective means, is not always predictable.

Review

“I remember how my grandmother flooded the apartment with dichlorvos, and after that it was impossible to stay there for a week. In my apartment, I immediately called a team of specialists and asked them to ensure that when I returned, there would be no smell or bedbugs in it. And indeed, all the bedbugs were destroyed, the apartment took a long time to ventilate, but when I came in, the smell was still noticeable. By evening he had disappeared.”
