Agita – fly repellent: instructions for use, precautions and treatment areas

Composition of the drug

This product is a powder in the form of small granules. It is also worth noting that agita does not have a pungent odor, which can undoubtedly be attributed to the advantages of this substance. To use, the powder must be diluted in a certain amount of water, which is indicated on the package. The drug is supplied in small plastic jars.

The composition includes two powerful insecticides that complement each other perfectly and allow you to achieve impressive results.

Hazard class for humans

Agita helps in the fight not only against flies, but also against other synanthropic organisms, such as fleas, bedbugs, mosquitoes, and so on. The drug also has a powerful residual effect. But does this somehow affect a person?

According to expert opinions, Agita was classified as a hazard class 4 drug, which means it does not pose a great threat to humans if the dosage of the drug is calculated correctly and safety measures are carried out in accordance with the recommendations.

Description and principle of operation

Agita is an insecticide produced in Austria, designed to destroy flies, cockroaches and fleas. Available in the form of a finely granulated white or beige powder. The product is odorless.

The traditional form of release of the drug is plastic jars, sealed with protective foil film and hermetically sealed with lids.

The product is based on thiamethoxam, which is toxic to flies at a concentration of 10%. This insecticide is classified as a group of contact-intestinal poisons. Once in the body, it causes paralysis of the insect’s nervous system and leads to its inevitable death.

In order for pests to come into contact with the substance, an insect-attracting substance, the pheromone Z-9-tricosene (0.05%), is added to it. Sensing the stimulating odor, the insects touch the product and die within a few minutes. The product contains sugar and the carbohydrate lactose as stabilizing additives.

It is recommended to use the product to control flies in residential premises and on livestock farms and enterprises. Store the drug in a cool, dry place for 5 years at a temperature not lower than -10, but not higher than +30 degrees, away from food and animal feed.

Using Agita

The shelf life of the drug in powder form is 3 years. The concentrate itself, according to the manufacturer, should be diluted in warm or room temperature water.

If you are treating a large area with the same solution, you should mix it thoroughly every 30 minutes so that the substance itself does not settle at the bottom of the solution. This is done in order to maintain the full effectiveness of the drug, since the settled components will not be able to get into the external environment, and therefore you should not expect any results.

The manufacturer himself gives the following recommendations:

Do not interrupt while treating the premises so that the substance remains as effective.

It is recommended to evacuate all pets from the premises in order to avoid negative impact on them.

It is important to use personal protective equipment.

Food should not be in an open space: pack it tightly or take it out of the room altogether.

After use, if excess solution remains, do not pour it into rivers or the toilet.

How to use?

Since the solution itself is aqueous, it must be diluted with liquid. In order for the components of the product to dissolve better, it is recommended to use water at room temperature.

The granules are mixed in a container until a homogeneous composition is obtained. To apply the product you can use:

  • Fleecy brushes. With their help, the solution is applied to certain areas of the surface.
  • Sprayers. Using special sprayers, the composition is applied to the areas of infection.

Methods of application

The first method: treating a room with a drug involves applying the substance directly to the surface. That is, in this method you use a brush that is usually used for painting. Using it, apply the solution to all straight surfaces, such as walls and floors, and also do not forget about baseboards and corners - they need to be treated as carefully as possible, since this is where pests usually accumulate. If you have recently plastered the walls, you should not apply the product to them. The effect after treatment will last for about two months.

The second method is easier, since it does not require applying the substance to the surface yourself. Here you will need a spray bottle or something like that. The substance should be sprayed at arm's length. To prepare the solution, a ratio of 1:8 (drug to water) is used. After treatment, the effect will last for one and a half months.

Other insects

Getting rid of wasps is very easy. To combat them, dry granules are used, which are placed on bait surfaces. They must be made from food materials according to the same scheme as for flies: per 10 square meters. m you need to build 3-5 baits, weighing up to 2 g each. Before setting traps, you need to choose the right location. Wasps should not fall into dishes and food. Do not forget about the corners and crevices in buildings through which these insects can penetrate.

To neutralize and expel mosquitoes, you need to prepare a solution with a 4% concentration and treat the places that are in demand among them. Most often they live in places where rays of light fall (windows, lampshades, lamps). For every sq. m you need to take 50 ml of the prepared solution. It should be prepared in the same way as for flies or wasps: mix the suspension until a homogeneous solution is obtained. It is impossible to predict when mosquitoes will appear again, so you need to irrigate the area as needed. There is no exact schedule for when to poison mosquitoes.

To get rid of fleas, you need to use an aqueous solution from Agita. The surface of the walls, floor, and gaps should be treated. Fleas live in carpets and walkways, so these also need to be treated carefully.

To inoculate such insects, a solution with a concentration of 0.8% is used. For every sq. m consume 50 ml of the prepared suspension. The treatment scheme is the same and does not depend on the location of irrigation.

The drug successfully fights the red ant and other species of this insect. The destructive concentration for it is the same as for a mosquito, so you need to prepare a 0.8% aqueous insecticidal solution. Most often, the floor surface and cracks from which ants may appear are treated with the solution. For every sq. m will need a quarter glass of poison.

You can also kill the ant using the dry version. To create a trap, non-food material is used.

Security measures

As already mentioned, the substance is not dangerous for humans, but when working with it, you should wear protective clothing:

  • Clothing that completely covers the skin.
  • Protective gloves.
  • Mask, respirator, goggles.

Many have tried to use the drug in undissolved form, but this is strictly prohibited.

Before processing, clean the room:

  • Remove toys from the apartment.
  • Do a wet cleaning.
  • Take pets out.

Personal prevention measures

  1. Persons over 18 years of age and not suffering from allergies should work with the fly repellent.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the properties of the insecticide in order to know what danger it poses to humans, its toxicity and how to provide first aid in case of poisoning.
  3. Only people trained to safely work with insecticidal preparations should use Agita solutions against flies.
  4. It is strictly forbidden to eat, smoke or drink while treating premises.
  5. After finishing the treatment, you should wash your hands with warm water and soap.
  6. The processes of preparing and using solutions should be carried out only in special clothing: a gown or protective suit, a dust mask, a hat, rubber boots and gloves to prevent them from getting into the respiratory system, eyes and skin. The remainder of the product must be disposed of in places specially designated for this purpose, as far as possible from areas intended for walking livestock and sources of water supply.
  7. Containers with residual fly repellent should be disposed of with household waste.
  8. If granules are accidentally spilled, they must be carefully swept away from the area and washed with clean water.

What to do in case of poisoning

The only cause of drug poisoning can be non-compliance with safety standards. So, there are several types of poisoning:

  • Vapor poisoning. If during work you find that you begin to feel unwell, then you should immediately stop working and go out into the fresh air. The best solution would be to see a doctor.
  • Poisoning by contact with skin or eyes. In such situations, it is necessary to urgently rinse the contact surface with water.
  • Poisoning due to ingestion. In this situation, you need to drink a lot of water and then take activated carbon at the rate of 1 tablet per 10 kilograms of weight.

It is important to understand that all this is just first aid. After you have completed these steps, you need to see a doctor so that he can prescribe you more appropriate methods of combating poisoning.

Reviews about Agita

Oleg, homeowner:

Of the main advantages of Agita, I would like to highlight the fact that it literally works on the spot. Flies and midges, which are frequent guests in my house, die almost instantly. I really like that the drug has a long-lasting residual effect. After treatment, insects do not bother me for more than a month.

Yaroslav, used the product several times:

When this product was recommended to me, I didn’t quite understand how it could protect against insects for a long time. But after I personally tried it, I was convinced that it was possible. This is what the chemical industry has come to. I carry out the treatment twice throughout the summer. And throughout the warm season I am not bothered by flies or mosquitoes. Of course, after applying Agita, there are a lot of flies lying on the floor that need to be removed. But this is not a problem, because the main thing is that the chemical does its job perfectly.

Irina, I tried a lot of fly repellents:

Of course, the effectiveness of Agita is at the highest level. I really liked that after treatment there were no flies or other insects in the house for a long time. However, for me there is still a certain drawback - the price. I have to process quite large areas. As a rule, it takes me two or three 400 g containers. So I have to calculate how much money I need to spend on one treatment. Of course, I will keep in mind that this product completely gets rid of flies, but I will also try to find some cheaper, but no less effective analogue.

Flies in the house: why are they dangerous?

Of course, flies are not the most dangerous insects that can appear in the house. They do not drink blood (with the exception of the burner fly) and do not cause such disgust as occurs when “meeting” bedbugs and cockroaches. Houseflies cause anxiety when there are too many of them. The buzzing of these insects is annoying. But the problem of being close to flies is not only their intrusiveness. They can cause many health problems, as they are carriers of infectious agents:

  • dysentery,
  • typhoid fever,
  • paratyphoid,
  • cholera,
  • tuberculosis,
  • polio,
  • helminthic and protozoal infestations, etc.

If flies appear in an apartment, they will land on everything: dishes, food, personal items. This means there is a risk of contracting an infection.
