Bolfo Bayer, Bolfo - insectoacaricidal spray.

The veterinary drug Bolfo-spray is an effective remedy in the fight against fleas, lice, and lice. The active component effectively destroys parasites. The substance settles on the animal’s fur and does not penetrate its blood, which means it does not cause allergies and does not have a systemic effect. Bolfo-spray, being a German-made product, has already established itself on the Russian market and found its consumers.

Pet owners often prefer Bolfo.

Doses and method of administration

Animals are treated outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. To prevent the animal from licking the drug, the jaws are closed with a loop of braid. Before use, shake the bottle and, pressing the spray head, direct a stream of aerosol from a distance of 30–40 cm onto the animal’s body against hair growth for several seconds, slightly moistening the fur. Covering the animal's eyes, treat the ears and chest, apply the drug around the eyes and nose with your fingertips, then treat the neck, torso, limbs, belly and tail. 20 minutes after treatment, the animal’s jaws are released from the loop. In order to prevent re-infestation by fleas, bedding, blankets, carpets and other objects in premises where animals are kept are treated with Bolfo aerosol at the rate of 2 ml of the drug (four clicks on the spray head) per 1 m2 of the treated surface and after 1 - 2 hours they are cleaned with a vacuum cleaner . Repeated treatments are carried out according to indications, but not more than 1 – 2 times a week.

Owner reviews

Marina, bull terrier owner:

“Our dog has hypersensitivity and is severely allergic to many medications. We started using Bolfo spray for protection against fleas and ticks after a doctor’s recommendation. Used throughout the summer season. There were no side effects, as well as contact with the hated parasites. It’s a good and safe product for our dog, so we’ll buy it next year.”

Daria, owner of a Labrador:

“Not all medications are suitable for our dog. Allergies often occur. To combat fleas and ticks, we managed to select drops for the withers, but they are inconvenient to use, since they need to be reapplied after 3-4 weeks. On the advice of a breeder friend, we bought a Bolfo collar. There are zero reactions, but at the same time it effectively affects parasites. The action lasted for 3 months, then I had to replace it with a new one.”

Properties and action

Propoxur, which is the active substance of the drug, has insectoacaricidal properties, that is, it is able to destroy ticks and fleas that parasitize dogs. The drug is intended for external use. The active substance accumulates in the hair coat and sebaceous glands, so the effect of the drug persists for a long period.

The principle of action of the drug is based on the fact that its components, or rather propoxur, cause serious disturbances in the metabolism of parasites. This leads to the development of pathological changes that cause paralysis and death of arthropods.

Note! The active substance Bolfo is highly toxic. And although the medicine is considered safe for dogs (provided the instructions are followed), it can be fatal for bees and fish.

Medicines for animals > Bolfo (aerosol)

Short description:

is a veterinary drug with insectoacaricidal activity. The formulation includes propoxur as an active substance, which has a detrimental effect on fleas and lice, ixodid ticks and lice-eaters. The drug is not absorbed into the blood, so it does not have a systemic effect and does not cause allergization. The medicine slightly irritates the mucous membranes if it comes into contact with them.

For whom:

The drug Bolfo is intended to combat ectoparasites in domestic animals (cats and dogs) and to prevent their infection with entomoses.

Leave form:

This product is produced in the form of an aerosol in a metal container with a volume of 250 ml. Each bottle is equipped with a special spray head. The content of propoxur in 100 ml of the product is 0.25 g.

Dosage:

The animal should be processed outside. If this is not possible, then this should be done in a well-ventilated area. Beforehand (to prevent licking of the medicine), the animal should close its jaws and fix them in this position with a muzzle or a special loop. A plastic neck collar can be used.

Shake the can and spray the aerosol over the body of the cat or dog from a distance of about 35–40 cm until the fur is lightly moistened. This should be done against the direction of hair growth. The head (ears, neck, area around the nose and eyes) should also be treated. After 20 minutes, the animal's jaws can be released. Treatments may be repeated as necessary, but the intervals between them should not be less than a week.

At the same time, you need to treat bedding, carpets, blankets and muzzles, furniture, and cracks under baseboards to prevent re-infection of the animal. The amount of product that needs to be sprayed on one square meter of surface is determined as four short presses on the head of the cylinder. After 1.5–2 hours, all treated surfaces must be vacuumed. Such events are allowed once or twice a week.

Restrictions:

You cannot treat an animal in a room where there is an aquarium with fish or a cage with birds. Bolfo is contraindicated in young animals up to three months of age, as well as in sick and convalescent animals.
